The glitz, chaos and drama is back as Rachel Sennott's I Love LA has been renewed for another season, bringing back the comedy ensemble for another season of navigating through love and loss in Los Angeles. The announcement was made by HBO's head Amy Gravitt, who is the executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO and HBO Max comedy series, who credited the show's warm reception for it's return for another run. Along with I Love LA, HBO's The Chair Company has also been renewed

Making the announcement, Gravitt stated,

“We’re thrilled by the incredible response to The Chair Company and I Love LA debuts. Both shows confidently carry on the HBO comedy tradition, in their own singular way. We couldn’t be happier to continue collaborating with Tim, Zach, Rachel, and their exceptional teams.”

The show has received praise from fans, with an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Other than that, it has made it's way onto social media with fans gushing over Sennott's performance on screen and work behind the scenes. It is not yet known what the second season will hold and who from the cast will return. More details are awaited as of now.

What is I Love LA about?

As Deadline reported, the show was pitched by Sennott as an "entourage" of some sort for internet women. Speaking about how the show came to be, the actress told the outlet,

“I think part of it was going through my Saturn Return, and I feel like this thing sort of happens — my early 20s were really chaotic. My mid-20s, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m locking in. I know my life. I’m done.’ And then at the end of my 20s, I feel like that kind of early version of myself came [out] and things got chaotic again, which was scary, but good.”

Sennott created the show, writes it, and steps into the center of the story as Maia Simsbury, an up and coming talent manager desperate to level up at work while juggling a relationship with Dylan, played by Josh Hutcherson. Her boss Alyssa, played by Leighton Meester, looms over every promotion meeting like a stylish reminder that the corporate grind culture is undefeated.

Maia’s circle is just as tangled. There’s Charlie Cohen, Jordan Firstman’s effortlessly theatrical WeHo stylist who knows everyone and pretends he hates that fact. There’s Alani Marcus, played by True Whitaker, the daughter of a famous actor who technically “works” at her dad’s production company even though she’s usually doing anything but that. And Odessa A’zion shows up as Tallulah Stiel, a college friend turned influencer who makes being successful look way too easy.

The first season of I Love LA is now streaming on HBO Max.
