Reality TV star Jen Affleck has recently disclosed that she is not related to Ben Affleck in any way. She revealed on an episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives that her husband, Zac Affleck, is a distant cousin of actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck.
In Season 1 of the Hulu show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Jen Affleck, 26, initially sparked rumors about her relationship with Ben Affleck when she casually revealed that her husband, Zac Affleck, is the Argo star's distant cousin. Since then, the internet has been curious about how she is related to the actor and filmmaker.
She told People in an interview:
"I brought it up once and press ran with it, and I feel like that's all I've ever talked about since then. But at this point, I'm like, 'Hey, if I meet Ben Affleck and J.Lo on the way, then great.'"
The matter was brought up again in the second season of the show when, during a lighthearted but heated exchange in which the couple were discussing about dressing up as Ben and J.Lo to a Halloween party.
Jen said to Zac:
"You're not gonna make me feel stupid when that's all I've been told from your family."
To which Zac replied that whatever she heard from his family, it's "as a joke":
"No one's ever taken it seriously until you ran with it."
He then went on to reveal on a confessional:
"I have no idea if I am or am not related to Ben Affleck and that had been like a running joke in my family."
He continued:
"It's never been something serious. And so, when Jen started telling people that, I did tell her, 'I don't think you should say that anymore. I think that's probably gonna backfire.'"
