Fans for Euphoria got a mild shock as a confusing post by the show's official Instagram account seemed to hint at Zendaya not returning for Euphoria Season 3. The actress, who has played protagonist Rue Bennett on the show since the first season is the narrator and the main character on Euphoria, winning an Emmy for the role. Her name's exclusion from the show's social media posts announcing the main cast sparked confusion among fans, many of whom believed that Zendaya was not returning for the show.
The post contained the names of some old and new stars who will be a part of Euphoria Season 3's cast, names that included Trisha Paytas, Eli Roth, Zak Steiner and Dominic Fike. Many pointed out that the names of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Damie and Barbie Ferrera weren't there and if it means that the original cast isn't returning.
However, a fan clarified in a comment that the rest of the cast including Zendaya's name is on another post on the page, a comment that the Euphoria account pinned to dismiss further confusion.
It is highly unlikely, impossible even for Zendaya to not be a part of Euphoria Season 3, considering she leads the plot and the narrative and the show has posted various images of the actress as Rue to promote the third season.
More details about Euphoria Season 3
After what felt like a lifetime of chaos, rumors, and heartbreak, Euphoria is finally inching toward its long-awaited third season. HBO has confirmed that filming officially began in Los Angeles in February 2025, with the premiere now slated for spring 2026. It’s a long wait, but at least fans can rest easy knowing Rue, Cassie, Nate, Jules, and the rest of East Highland’s beautifully broken souls are coming back.
The road to Euphoria Season 3 has been anything but smooth. Production was derailed by Hollywood’s 2023 strikes, the deaths of Angus Cloud (Fezco) and executive producer Kevin Turen, and the cast’s jam-packed schedules. Zendaya went from Challengers to Dune: Part Two, Sydney Sweeney filmed Anyone But You and The Handmaid, Jacob Elordi embodied Elvis in Priscilla and joined Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, while Hunter Schafer worked with Yorgos Lanthimos on Kinds Of Kindness. Yet somehow, they’ve all made room to return for this next chapter.
As for who will appear, Zendaya, Sweeney, Schafer, Elordi, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo are all confirmed. New faces include Grammy winner Rosalía, A Different World star Kadeem Hardison, Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne, and This Is Us actor Asante Blackk, who joins as Kidd, a runner for a kingpin played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Whether Euphoria Season 3 will be the last remains uncertain, but HBO’s execs hint that it could close the book on Euphoria, a fitting, emotional farewell to TV’s most intoxicating fever dream.
Euphoria Season 3 is set to premiere in 2026.
