Emily Cooper and Sylvie Grateau's relationship with Emily in Paris has not always been sweet. Both the women have had messy, chaotic moments together with Sylvie's blunt honesty and Parisian etiquettes not quite living up to Emily's Americanness.

However, across five seasons, the relationship has changed, evolved and grown into something beautiful, into a bond full of respect, pride, and a guarded affection Sylvie barely recognizes in herself. The fifth season saw this connection in full swing, as the two ladies have an emotional conversation where Sylvie talks about how lucky she was to have had Emily.

Speaking about the shift, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Sylvie, opened up about her character's evolution with Emily and told People Magazine,

"It did change a lot. She went from being very wary of Emily to realizing then that she needed her. It was very pragmatic at a certain point, but then, yeah, she has feelings. She has feelings and she sees this young woman trying to go through life. [Sylvie] can be very harsh, but it's her way of showing her love. I think she's even surprised by the fact that she has feelings for Emily. It's very unconscious, but sometimes it kind of comes out. That's why this season is really a moment where the armor breaks, and she doesn't control that at all."

The finale sees Emily Cooper living different versions of her life across Paris, Rome and Venice, with each one forcing her to question what fulfillment really means. Her romance with Marcello is in full swing, but she slowly comes to the realization that they both want to move in different directions in life. Maturely, they part ways but not without a messy assumed proposal.

On the other hand, there's more hope about her romance with Gabriel, as the two meet several times and the finale teases a potential patch-up between them, Emily hooks him up with a chef job and the season ends with him in Greece, inviting her to join him; which raises the question: Will Emily in Paris 6 be called Emily in Greece?

On the professional front, the stakes escalate. Agence Grateau closes its Rome office after a string of client disasters, and Sylvie faces financial ruin due to her husband’s debts. The surprise return of Princess Jane as an equity partner saves the agency but introduces a new power dynamic. The season ends with Emily and Sylvie aligned, aware that survival will require solidarity.

A lot of things happen, and that may serve as potential plot points for the next season of Emily in Paris. Which city will Emily find herself in next? Will her romance with Gabriel be endgame? Will Mindy go ahead with the wedding with Nico? Only time will tell!
