Jenna Ortega has totally nailed Wednesday Addams - dark, sharp, and effortlessly cool. But here’s the kicker: there’s one thing about the whole show that Jenna swears Wednesday would absolutely despise. It’s not the creepy vibes or the spooky mysteries; it’s something way more unexpected.

Despite the character’s growing fame and cult following, Jenna reveals a surprising truth about how Wednesday would react to the show’s popularity. Speaking to Harper's Bazaar as she delved deeper into the gothic protagonist, Ortega talked about how Wednesday would absolutely hate how much the show is commodified.

Talking to the outlet, Ortega quipped

“I mean, God, if you could speak to everybody like Wednesday—just say what you truly mean—it would be amazing! She doesn’t care. It’s pretty funny, when you think about it. She’s an outsider, but now she’s on these mugs, cereal boxes, and T-shirts. You’re just thinking, Oh, man, she would hate this!

Sure enough, the show has been a part of multiple big brand campaigns ever since it blew up on Netflix to be one of the biggest shows the streamer has produced. And if anything, things are only about to get even bigger as Ortega braces herself to step into her gothic shoes one more time.

Brace yourself, because Wednesday Addams is coming back, and this time, she’s darker, smarter, and way more intense. The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s Wednesday drops in two parts, August 6 and September 3, 2025, and it’s ready to shake up everything you thought you knew about the gothic queen of deadpan.

Jenna Ortega returns not just as Wednesday but also as an executive producer, bringing her own fierce vision to the show. She’s dialing up the horror vibes, leaning hard into the supernatural mystery and psychic powers, and pulling away from the usual teen romance nonsense. Expect shadowy secrets, family drama with Morticia and Gomez in full force, and a new cast of characters that will mess with Wednesday’s world, including the iconic Grandmama, played by Joanna Lumley, plus some wild surprises from stars like Lady Gaga and Steve Buscemi.

The season promises horror movie-worthy chills and thrills, with Wednesday facing fresh dark forces that test her razor-sharp mind and fearless heart. The Addams Family isn’t just background anymore; they’re front and center, tangled in eerie mysteries and spine-tingling adventures.

Netflix's Tudum has described the new season as a "bone-chilling supernatural mystery," as the outlet stated,

"Wednesday Addams (Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery."

The first season of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
