Right after Stranger Things Season Five Volume 1 dropped, fans are already looking forward to the show's second volume that will continue the story and give fans answers to the cliffhangers left behind by the first episodes of the first volume. Among these are an important episode that will focus on the show's antagonist Henry Creel aka Vecna.
Matt and Ross Duffer spoke to Variety about everything fans will get to see in the show's second volume, and among these will be an episode that the Duffer brothers are calling the "Russia storyline," where fans will get to know more about the villain that has been terrorising Hawkins. Answering the outlet's question whether fans will see more of Vecna's memories in the coming episodes of Stranger Things Season Five, Matt Duffer said,
"Yes, that’s what we call our new Russia storyline, because it’s very few characters. They’re kind of isolated off on their own, Max and Holly. We’re very happy with how it integrates with the other storylines."
He then continued to talk about what fans can expect from the coming episodes of Stranger Things Season Five, as he added,
"I’ve said this before: The show is not “Game of Thrones.” I’m hoping it surprises people. But there’s no Red Wedding, if that’s what you’re asking. That would be depressing."
How did the first volume of Stranger Things Season Five end?
Stranger Things Season Five Volume 1 ends with a brutal showdown in the episode Sorcerer, written and directed by the Duffer Brothers. The Upside Down spills into the military zone, overwhelming the soldiers. Robin and Murray try to save a group of Hawkins kids while demogorgons pursue them. Deep inside the Upside Down base, Eleven and Hopper discover something no one expected. Kali, also known as Eight, is alive and imprisoned.
During a temporary pause in the battle, Vecna emerges and confronts Joyce, Mike, Will, and the surviving military officers. He redirects their weapons, detonates grenades with ease, and focuses on Will. He calls the children ideal vessels and reminds Will that he was the first. Demogorgons drag the trapped kids into the Upside Down, including Holly Wheeler, while Lucas and Robin watch powerless to intervene.
As everything collapses around them, Will recalls Robin’s earlier advice and memories that shaped his life. Meeting Mike. Being loved by Joyce. Building Castle Byers with Jonathan. Those moments unlock powers he never knew he possessed. He freezes every demogorgon before they reach Robin, Mike, and Lucas. He sees through their eyes and destroys them through sheer force. The volume closes with Will wiping a nosebleed from his face, steady and determined, mirroring Eleven’s familiar stance as he prepares for what comes next.
Stranger Things Season Five Volume 1 is now streaming on Netflix. The second volume will release on December 25, with the finale releasing on December 31.
