MobLand came in swinging, and it didn’t miss. After making history as one of Paramount+’s biggest global premieres, the buzz around Season 2 is getting louder by the minute. With Tom Hardy absolutely owning the screen as slick, no-nonsense fixer Harry Da Souza, the gritty British crime drama delivered blood, betrayal, and enough jaw-dropping cliffhangers to keep fans begging for more.

Now, the show has been renewed for a second season, and the stakes are just as high. MobLand isn’t just making noise, it’s dominating. The gritty crime drama has held its ground on the Nielsen Top 10 Original Series chart for six straight weeks, with data most recently tracked from May 19 to May 25. And the numbers? Absolutely wild.

According to Paramount, the first episode alone has clocked a staggering 26 million viewers globally. That count’s based on total watch time divided by episode length across the show’s first 70 days, and it’s enough to make any rival show sweat. Even more impressive, MobLand has officially claimed the title of Paramount+’s second most-watched original ever, trailing only behind Taylor Sheridan’s Landman.

Talking about the second season of the show, Jez Butterworth, writer and producer of the show, said,

“TV was a brand new world for me and I was reluctant to commit to a TV overall, but Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios, completely changed my perspective with their bold creative vision and razor-sharp strategic insight. Collaborating with Chris, David, Guy and our stellar cast has been nothing short of inspiring and I’m excited to dive into the second season of ‘MobLand.’”

What was the first season of MobLand about?

Season 1 of MobLand kicks the door open and storms straight into London’s criminal underbelly. At the heart of it all? Two rival families, the ruthless Harrigans and the cold-blooded Stevensons, are dancing on the edge of an all-out war. Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza is the fixer caught in the middle, the guy everyone calls when bodies drop and deals go sideways. But when a messy night out leads to a stabbing and Richie Stevenson’s son vanishes, everything spirals.

Enter Conrad Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan, all charm and cold ambition, looking to steal the Stevenson drug empire while his ice-veined wife Maeve, played by Helen Mirren, pulls strings like a mob queen straight out of a Shakespeare tragedy. Harry’s balancing act teeters, especially with his wife Jan demanding a way out of the madness he’s built their life around.

By the time the credits roll, the streets are soaked, betrayals have burned through bloodlines, and Harry’s left staring into the abyss of everything he tried to control. If you’re into sleek suits, double-crosses, and morally bankrupt poetry in motion, MobLand should definitely be your net watch.

MobLand is available to stream on Prime Video.
