Nancy Wheeler is finally getting some spotlight on her as the Stranger Things character is all set to get her own spin-off, but not in the way you probably think. The franchise is now moving forward with a novel, Stranger Things: One Way or Another, written by TV writer and novelist Caitlin Schneiderhan and published by Random House Worlds, where Nancy will be joining another adventure with Robin Buckley.

The novel opens two months after Vecna’s earthquake tore through Hawkins. The town is still shaken, full of people trying to return to something resembling normal life. Nancy can’t stop searching for Vecna and refuses to believe he has vanished for good. She is supposed to leave for Emerson College in the fall, but she can’t imagine walking away while Hawkins still feels contaminated by the Upside Down.

As per Netflix, a synopsis of the book reads,

“Hawkins, Indiana, is in recovery. It’s been two months since Vecna’s earthquake tore through the town, and its residents are still reeling from the devastation,” the official synopsis reads. “Nancy Wheeler has spent every waking minute on the hunt for Vecna, but he’s continued to elude her. How can she head to Emerson for college in the fall if Hawkins is still under the influence of the Upside Down?"

Nancy and Robin find themselves pulled into a deeper conspiracy, one that threatens to trap Nancy in Hawkins for good. Schneiderhan, who grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and now lives in Los Angeles, jokes that she “hatched from a cocoon of Terry Pratchett novels” at thirteen. Her passion for genre storytelling shapes her work on the Stranger Things series and carries into this novel, where she expands the fallout of the show and throws Nancy and Robin into a puzzle that pushes their instincts and loyalty to the edge.

More details about Nancy Wheeler's character on Stranger Things

Nancy Wheeler, played by Natalia Dyer, has been at the center of Hawkins’ biggest mysteries from the beginning of Stranger Things. In 1983, she lives a typical high school life, torn between spending time with her best friend Barbara Holland or her boyfriend Steve Harrington. Everything shifts when Barb disappears and Will Byers vanishes. Nancy and Jonathan Byers join forces, piece together the truth behind a creature from another dimension, and help wound it using a trap in the Byers home with last minute help from Steve.

After a dangerous trip into the Upside Down, Vecna reveals his identity and future plans to Nancy. The group attempts to stop him but fails, and four massive gates rip open, merging Hawkins with the Upside Down. Nancy reunites with Jonathan upon his return, and together with their friends, she watches the town face a threat larger than anything they have encountered before.
