Suits LA, despite the recent resurgence of its predecessor on Netflix, has been cancelled by NBC after just one season, which premiered this year. The decision to cancel the legal drama at this juncture comes after its low viewership remained throughout the season, from its premiere to its finale, despite the high-profile IP involved with the show.

NBC ordered the spinoff in late 2023, wanting to bank on Suits' unprecedented success at Netflix, even though it ended six years ago. As a result, the spin-off premiered in February 2025, but it has been falling short of expectations since its premiere when it comes to viewership.

Here's everything we know about NBC's Suits LA cancellation.

Even the high-profile IP involved with the NBC show, the huge marketing budget, and the return of Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter in the motherhsip series) were not enough to keep Suits LA afloat. According to recent reports from Deadline, the show has been cancelled and will not be renewed for Season 2.

Even though there were rumours that the show would be renewed for a second season, considering the investment in its marketing and the additional exposure that it received on NBC on Thursday (a three-hour marathon), it turns out none of it made any difference for the show, and it has been cancelled. This is the second spin-off from Suits that has been cancelled, the first being the Gina Torres-led Pearson (2019), which was also cancelled after a season.

NBC and Suits creator Aaron Korsh pulled all the stops for Suits LA, even reprising Harvey's role for a three-episode storyline, and Louis and Hardman's roles as well. None of this made any difference, and viewership has stayed low, close to the 1 million mark for live and same-day streaming, 1.6 million less than the viewership at its debut in February.

Additionally, it did not do well in the streaming domain either, leading to the cancellation. Maybe some more time would've helped the show evolve and set a tone and pace that could match Suits' success, but sadly, there's no more time.

NBC was in a position where it had to reexamine its schedule to make space for the primetime NBA programming. The three One Chicago dramas, Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D., have all been renewed for new seasons, to nobody's surprise, as they continue to be on the Top 5 viewership list for NBC. They are closely followed by the two Law and Order series, which are also expected to return next broadcast season. Therefore, Suits La, along with The Irrational, Night Court, and Lopez vs Lopez, are the ones who've received the axe from NBC to make space for the NBA coverage.
