One Piece Season 2 has yet to finalize a release date, but the production team is already gearing up to work on the third chapter. The Netflix show is counted among the best live-action adaptations of an anime or manga series.
The fantasy adventure drama premiered in 2023 and became the most-watched program on Netflix in the second half of the year, which led to its quick renewal for a second season. The sophomore installment has already concluded filming, and now we have an update on the show’s future.
Though the third season has not been officially announced by Netflix, actor Joe Manganiello, who has joined the series as Mr. 0, has revealed that he will be returning to the sets later this year to commence shooting for One Piece Season 3. He said in an interview with Cinemablend:
“We've taken a break between Season 2 and Season 3. I'll be heading back later on this year, and we'll be working on the next part of the story. So that's about all I can say.”
Joe Manganiello reveals One Piece Season 3 will go into production later this year
During the interview, which is now being shared on social media, Joe Manganiello confirmed that One Piece Season 3 will begin in the latter part of 2025. After the second season’s filming concluded in February 2025, the team decided to take a break for a few months before returning to set.
The third season has not officially been greenlit by Netflix as of now, but considering the show’s popularity, fans and the production team are hopeful of its continuation. And considering that the creators have already planned the filming of Season 3, they might already be in talks with Netflix about the renewal.
The Writers Guild of America West, which tracks production credits for television and films, had earlier listed One Piece Season 3’s production timeline as 2025 and 2026. Joe Manganiello’s comments have hinted that the show is right on track.
The actor has joined the show in Season 2 as Mr. 0, the leader of Baroque Works, a criminal organization. Also known as ‘Desert King’ Sir Crocodile, Mr. 0 is a villainous character who will be stirring up trouble for Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates.
One Piece Season 2 was previously confirmed to premiere in 2025, but Netflix has now retracted the information. In the upcoming chapter, Luffy and his team will travel to new places and face off against new adversaries. The main cast members include Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar, Jeff Ward, Vincent Regan, and Morgan Davies.
