Adam Scott just pulled back the curtain on Ben Stiller in a way fans of Severance probably weren’t expecting. While audiences know Stiller as the precise, almost obsessive director behind Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed thriller, Scott revealed there’s a lighter, quirkier side to him on set.

Speaking during the Lovett or Leave It podcast, Scott shared that Stiller often slips into what he jokingly calls his “Bendo” persona on the sets of Severance, a behind-the-scenes photographer who drifts across the set, snapping candid shots of the cast and crew. According to Scott, the photos are surprisingly stunning, even if “Bendo” sometimes ends up smack in an actor’s eyeline mid-scene.

"It's like, 'What are you doing?'You know what, the photos are beautiful. They really are. But Bendo takes them, not Ben."

With Season 2 already in the can and Season 3 on the way, Scott’s revelation is a reminder that even the most intense psychological thrillers are built on laughter, trust, and a little bit of “Bendo” magic.

If Severance taught us anything, it’s patience. Apple TV+’s slow-burn sci-fi has turned waiting into part of the ritual. And now that season 2 has left viewers gasping in the fluorescent glow of Lumon’s break room, the conversation has shifted to where we will be getting the latest season.

First, the good news: season 3 is officially on the way. Apple locked it in back in March, the very day season 2 wrapped up with the finale. Even Tim Cook couldn’t resist joining the hype, posting a celebratory montage on X.

Director and executive producer Ben Stiller has been teasing possibilities for a while, promising the show won’t just linger because of popularity but will follow the story where it truly needs to go. Star Adam Scott, meanwhile, delivered the most “Mark S.” statement possible: yes, he’s thrilled to return, but no, his innie doesn’t know anything about it.

Of course, the real obsession is what season 3 for Severance will look like. The finale cracked the core tension wide open: Outie Mark wants to save Gemma, while Innie Mark wants his own life, Helly included. That rift feels unsustainable, and the question of whether Gemma or Helly will pull him in their direction sits at the heart of what’s next. Add in Jame Eagan’s eerie faith in Helly, Milchick’s cracks in loyalty, and Cobel’s vengeance tour, and season 3 already feels like a powder keg waiting to blow.

But not all news is rosy. Stiller revealed he won’t direct any episodes this time, stepping away to film a World War II project.

The release date remains a mystery, but Stiller promised the wait won’t be another three years. Until then, fans can only do what Dylan once did on the break room poster: hang in there.

The first two seasons of Severance are available to stream on Apple TV.
