Sex and the City is one of the most successful HBO television series that aired from 1998 to 2004. The sitcom follows Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha as they navigate love, friendship, and career challenges in New York City. The program became a cultural touchstone, leading to the making of two films and a successor series called And Just Like That.

Actress Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte York in the series and currently runs the podcast Are You a Charlotte?, shared a personal confusion she frequently encounters. In an interview with her longtime co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, Davis acknowledged that she occasionally addresses Parker as though she were Carrie Bradshaw, the role she had once portrayed for many years.

Davis finds herself using the pronoun "you" rather than "she" when Parker refers to Carrie as a distinct persona. She acknowledged the difficulty of separating the real person from such a legendary part and laughed, saying,

"You talk about Carrie as she. I talk about Carrie as you. I apologize"

In response, Parker said she understood and wasn't bothered. The two chuckled as they discussed how years of close collaboration may make it difficult to distinguish between an actor and a character. Even when people bring up Carrie, Davis continued, she responds as though they were referring to Parker.

This unguarded meeting offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the strong relationships that were forged through enduring creative partnerships.

Kristin Davis has established a solid career beyond Sex and the City. Prior to her portrayal as Charlotte, she participated in the drama series Melrose Place and played several television guest roles. Her filmography includes titles such as Couples Retreat, Deck the Halls, and Holiday in the Wild. She also made her theater debut on Broadway and the West End. In addition to acting, Davis is a producer who works in cinema, television, and theatre.
