The Voice 26 runner-up Shye opens up about the show's finale episode and shares her journey

The Voice 26's finale episode part 2 aired on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, revealing the top three finalists and the winner. The runner-up, Shye, couldn't stop cheering for fellow teammate Sofronio Vasquez after he was announced the winner.

As The Voice 26 host Carson Daly announced, Shye embraced the fellow finalist who emerged as the first Filipino winner of the competition show.

Recently, Shye appeared in an interview with Patch. In it, the singer expressed her excitement and opened up about getting "so much" out of the competition.

Referring to her participation in the reality show, she said that she was "bored."

"I was bored. I really felt like I had nothing to lose at that point," shared Shye.

Fans must remember the female participants' blind auditions, during which she performed Superman. Her audition was one of the "four-chair turn" performances.

For that, Coach Reba McEntire stated:

"It is just so rich and creamy. Oh! I just loved it."

Later on, Shye ended up choosing Team Michael Bublé.

"You have this wonderful range. You're so sweet and I'd love to take the journey with you," shared the coach.

The remaining judges, Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani have also been there for the singer whenever she needed guidance.

Talking about how she got support from all the judges and how she secured the runner-up position, Shye mentioned:

"I don't think there was a single thought behind my eyes. I had to keep singing and pretend that didn't happen. I was beside myself."

Viewers must be aware of how Shye started singing when she was six, and not knowing at the time of joining The Voice, she refers to her appearance on the show as "insane."

Sharing more about the show's finale, Shye revealed that she wanted to vote for fellow participant Sofronio Vasquez and was not disappointed. She added that Team Michael Bublé secured the first and second positions and she was glad about it.

Fans can stream The Voice 26's previous episodes on Peacock and enjoy Shye's performances throughout the competition show.
