We're only a few hours away from the premiere of The Office spin-off, titled The Paper, and in exciting news, the show has already been picked up for another season. Set in the same premise as The Office, where a documentary crew follows the Toledo Truth Tellers, the show has inherently huge expectations to live up to.

The kind of expectations that come with being a follow-up to The Office can be easily crushing, but the early renewal proves that The Paper can hold its own. Additionally, the early renewal also means that the show will be breaking the recent trend of extremely long gaps between two seasons of a show.

Here's everything we know about the exciting new update!

The announcement for the early renewal comes from stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, who were promoting The Paper's release on The Today Show on NBC on Wednesday morning and deemed it the perfect occasion to announce the season renewal ahead of the premiere.

The Toledo Truth Tellers, headed by the newly appointed editor-in-chief, Domhnall Gleeson's Ned Sampson, who was previously a toilet paper salesman, now has one more season to turn the small market newspaper into a success.

The early renewal is a major vote of confidence for a debutβ€”especially as a spin-off of one of the most popular shows of all time. While networks have recently been following the early renewal trend in an attempt to ensure a quicker release for shows, such a vote of confidence in a debut spin-off is a remarkable feat.

The Paper co-creator, Greg Daniels, revealed in a conversation with Variety that they were already talking about a second season, so some ideas are already brewing in the writers' room regarding the next season. The early renewal will allow Daniels and his co-creator, Michael Koman, to ensure that the second season premieres around the same time next yearβ€”a formula that is also being applied by The Pitt (which is receiving enormous props for it).

While The Paper has received a major vote of confidence from Peacock, it remains to be seen how the loyal fans of the longtime reigning show will react to the spin-off. However, considering the fact that The Office's Greg Daniels is dedicated to crafting characters that the audience falls in love with, they'll surely manage to make The Office fans happy.

Even if they don't, they now have another season to do it, because everyone knows The Office Season 2 stands on much higher ground than the first season.

The Paper is set to premiere on Peacock on September 4 in a binge-release fashion, as all ten episodes will premiere together.
