Netflix has unveiled the first look of its Supernatural thriller Chinese series The Resurrected, which is part of its 2025 Chinese-language slate, including other titles like Forget You Not and I am Married… But!
Co-directed by Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-jen, the Chinese series is produced by Emma Duan and Bernard T. K. Yang, with a screenplay by Shen Yang, Yi Shuai-jie, and Luo Hsiao-rui. The show will debut globally on October 9, 2025.
The Resurrected stars acclaimed actresses Shu Qi and Lee Sinje (making their Chinese streaming debut) as two revengeful mothers. The plot is set in the fictional city of Benkha, where two mothers are united by their hatred and unquenchable thirst for revenge for the deaths of their respective daughters.
To seek revenge on their daughters, who died in a fraud and kidnapping case, the mothers take the help of a mysterious goddess and resurrect the deceased ringleader of the fraud scheme. However, even after inflicting endless pain on the ringleader, their quest for revenge is not satiated.

The Resurrected teaser: Supernatural take on a revenge saga
The Resurrected stars Shu Qi and Lee Sinje in the lead roles of two grieving and revenge-filled mothers, Wang Hui Chan and Chao Ching, respectively. Their quest for vengeance for their daughter's death will take them too far, and their questionable methods will explore the themes of morality and justice.
Taiwanese actress Shu Qi is famously known for her work in Romance of Red Dust and The Duke of Mount Deer, while Malaysian Chinese actress Lee Sinje has previously appeared in projects like The Election and Big Shot.
In addition to these actresses, The Resurrected also stars Fu Meng-Po as the villainous scam kingpin, Chang Shih Kal. The Taiwanese actor is famously known for Margaret & David Tie and Trade War. The cast is followed by Chung Hsin-ling, Caitlin Fang, Lin Ting-yi, Liu Chu-ping, Vivi Chen, Rexen Cheng, and Patrick Nattawat Finkler.
Golden Horse winner Alyssa Chia and Thai actor Sukollawat Kanaros will also make special appearances in the show.
The first look at the Chinese series paints the picture of a gritty tale with supernatural elements that will aptly explore the themes of justice and morality. To what extent will the mothers go to avenge their dead daughters, that is at the heart of the show.
Teasing the tone and themes of the series, Meng-po, who plays the antagonist, said with Variety:
“The storyline is both fantastical and thrilling, and the moral conflicts between the characters are absolutely gripping.”
The Resurrected will premiere globally on Netflix on October 9, 2025.
