Deric Augustine is teasing some big spoilers for The Rookie's eighth season, and from everything we are getting, the new season is about to have some great surprises. The actor spoke to People Magazine in an interview where he dissected parts of the show's season and teased an episode where someone is going to make a return. Speaking to the outlet, he said,
“There's a certain episode that someone comes back, and you really see the true dynamic of their relationship, the things that they probably went through in their own lives. You're going to see them come together and really air it out. It's such a huge spoiler that I can't even indulge more in it, but that's going to be a phenomenal scene, and scenes, to really look at and to appreciate the craft of acting.”
Showrunner Alexi Hawley also talked about some guest stars we will get to see this season of The Rookie, as he said,
"We've been blessed with some really iconic villains — we talked about Monica a little bit, she'll be back. I don't think it's too spoiler-y to say we'll see Oscar Hutchinson again this season. We are hopeful to get Flula Borg back, who's always fun for us. We are ever-chasing Pete Davidson and his incredibly busy schedule, but we are always hopeful to work and he's really into coming back.”
More details about The Rookie Season 8
Season 8 of The Rookie is officially on the way, and this time, the show is thinking bigger, literally. For the first time in its run, the long-running ABC drama takes part of its action overseas, sending John Nolan and a small team far away from Los Angeles and straight into a high-stakes mission in Prague.
The new season premieres January 6 on ABC, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu. The premiere picks up just days after the Season 7 finale and throws Nolan, Nyla Harper, and Bailey Nune into an international operation involving an arms dealer and a very inconvenient returning antagonist.
Creator Alexi Hawley says the shift in location helped refresh the show’s energy without losing what makes it work. After the opening arc, the story returns to Los Angeles with what he describes as a more “supersized” season, full of personal pressure, relationship tension, and higher emotional stakes.
And yes, Chenford fans should stay seated. Tim and Lucy have turned a corner, but Hawley confirms they are not rushing into the next big conversation. From everything we are getting to know, this one will be a wild ride!
The Rookie is available to watch on ABC.
