It seems Peacock is extracting all it can from the success of the Ted franchise, as it has greenlit an animated series sequel for the franchise. The series will be joining the two live-action comedies and the prequel series that aired in January 2024 and has also been renewed for another season.
The working title for the upcoming sequel, set in the time after the live-action movies, is Ted: The Animated Series.
Here's everything we know about the upcoming sequel.
Animated sequel series set to join the Ted franchise

After two live-action movies and a prequel series, the Ted franchise is stepping away from live-action and stepping into the animated world. Peacock has picked up the franchise for a sequel series set after the events of the 2015 live-action movie.
The details regarding the plot of the animated sequel series are being kept under wraps for now, but if it will take any inspiration from the prequel live-action series, the most-watched original title at Peacock, it is sure to impress the fans of the franchise.
The foul-mouthed magical teddy bear Ted will be voiced by Seth MacFarlane, director and co-writer of the franchise, as is tradition. Mark Wahlberg will also be reprising the role of the human companion to the Teddy, John Bennett. Amanda Seyfried will also be reprising her role of John's girlfriend, Sam Jackson. Jessica Barth will be returning as Ted's wife, Tami-Lynn McCafferty.

The actors from the original movies will be joined by Kyle Mooney, who will most likely voice Ted and Tami-Lynn's adopted son, Apollo. Liz Richman, who plays John's high school classmate Polly in the live-action prequel series, will also be joining the cast as the voice of Ruth.
MacFarlane is the writer and executive producer (and voice actor) on the upcoming animated prequel, along with Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan, who are also the showrunners of the prequel series at Peacock. Erica Huggins, Jason Clark, and Alana Kleiman will be joining the project as executive producers representing MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door Entertainment. Claudia Katz is also a part as executive producer representing Rough Draft.
The sequel series has a bright future when it comes to commercial success, if it is anything like the previous projects in the franchise. Both the live-action movies were extremely successful at the box office, with $550 million gross earnings on a $65 million budget for the 2012 movie, and $215 million grossed by the 2015 live-action movie.
