Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 Episode 5 recap: A journey back to Prague- the truth behind Masha and David's daughter Tatiana
This episode begins with Masha inviting David to undergo a deeper psychedelic experiment that is less about relaxation and more about revelation, as she utters,
"I am gonna take you on an advanced psychedelic journey."
Even though David was hesitant to take the drug initially, when Masha challenges him and he finally agrees. As the drug starts to hit, David is mentally transported to his early days in Prague in 2001, where he, an established business mogul, met Masha for the first time. Masha was then an assistant, working behind the scenes for a local news program under the name Mila Zarastskova.
Even though Masha was quite unimpressed by his rhetoric about freedom and his business module with the Eastern European nations, David was intrigued by her candor. In the present time, as Masha continued to monitor David's vitals, she asked him to concentrate and dive deeper into his hallucinations. She continued to hypnotize him as she whispered,
"Breathe in, Breathe out. This feeling is totally normal."
As he plunged back into his memories, back to 2001, David asked Masha (then Mila) for a dinner date. However, she took him to a shady bar, where after a brief conversation, they drank and danced their hearts out. They headed to David's swanky hotel room, where they had a one-night stand.
However, that one night altered Masha's life forever. As Masha continued to increase David's dosage, it took him back to the time when Masha gave birth to their daughter, Tatiana. Yes, Tatiana is David and Masha's only daughter. As she whispered into his ear, David saw how Masha refused to give Tatiana's father's name for hospital records- a striking proof that she wanted to raise her child alone.
"She's the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. She opens her eyes, looks into yours."
When David asked why Masha didn't tell him about Tatiana, she told him that she believed that he wouldn't want a child from a casual encounter. Moreover, years later, when she saw David with a Russian man in Prague, he walked past her without acknowledging her. When David asked whether he could meet his daughter Tatiana, Masha narrated another painful truth that shattered him.

Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 Episode 5 recap: Pain, revenge, and a shocking revelation- Who's Sergei Ivanov?
When Masha saw David with a Russian man, she began to investigate him. She soon secured a job at a local paper, and when she started to dig deeper, she found out that the Russian man was Sergei Ivanov, a military contractor looking to get into the drone business. Masha revealed how she kept investigating and was on the verge of exposing the truth. In one encounter, Masha asked a tough question to the man, which made her a target.
She was stalked, followed, and threatened. However, the only thing she couldn't imagine was that her involvement could take her daughter's life. She told David,
"I moved again and again and again. I quit my job. I changed my name. But it wasn't enough. Because it wasn't about silencing me. No. It was about punishment. How do you punish me? You come after my daughter. So I had to swallow my pride and reach out to you. I wrote to you. First pleading and then threatening."
David swore that he never received those messages. He told Masha,
"My business associates kept things from me that I should have known. Which is why I sold it all. I got rid of that part of the business."
In this episode of Nine Perfect Strangers, Masha then shared the painful incident, how the stalkers associated with Sergei Ivanov killed her daughter Tatiana in a road accident. As she broke down,
"I couldn't protect her. I couldn't protect her."
David apologized to Masha as he said,
"I failed her (Tatiana), not you. I'm sorry that you had to carry this all alone."
Masha forgave David. However, Masha's moment is overshadowed by betrayal as Martin, her once-trusted ally, listens to the entire session. Nine Perfect Strangers Episode 5 points to a shift in power, and with Martin watching from the shadows next chapter might not be an easy ride for Masha.
