Yes, Chef! Episode 5: Cheftestants participated in an individual challenge to showcase their culinary skills

The latest Yes, Chef! episode featured a refreshing challenge for viewers and for the cheftestants. As the judges revealed, episode 5's challenge was Dish it out and take it. For that, participants were given a time of 90 minutes to prepare a family-style dish, using any ingredients they wished.

"For the first time ever, we are doing an individual challenge. No teams, no captains to hide behind. No excuses. It's all on you," said Judge José Andrés.

Sharing more about the individual challenge, Martha Stewart added:

"We think it's time for you to get a little taste of your competition. In fact, you will judge each other today and determine who goes into the cookoff."

As the judges mentioned, the chefs' dishes will be tasted by their fellow cheftestants. They will be sharing their review of the dish and will be the critics. Martha Stewart also added that the goal of doing such was not only to taste the dishes and share their honest opinion, but also to see how participating chefs take criticism for their dishes.

Further in the episode, there were various unexpected events, including Chef Peter's meltdown. It happened when he couldn't find semolina flour to prepare homemade pasta. Chef Chris Morales struggled to manage the time they were provided while preparing his dish.

For the individual challenge, Chef Lee Frank prepared grilled hanger steak. It had spring onion polenta and buttermilk curd. After tasting Frank's dish, José Andrés said that the polenta was "nice and creamy."

Fellow Chef Ronny Miranda said that Frank's steak was "perfectly cooked." Yes, Chef! participants also shared their reviews on their fellow chefs' dishes. There was an elimination face-off between Chefs Chris Morales and Peter Richardson, which ended in the latter's elimination.
