The first volume of Stranger Things Season 5 is going to be released on November 26, 2025, and while it will feature the final battle between the crew and Vecna, it will also address some emotions that it hadn't before. Season 4 hinted at Will being gay, which Noah Snapp confirmed back in 2022.

It was also hinted that Will had feelings for his long time friend Mike Wheeler, but Will hadn't confessed because he hadn't come out yet and was scared about how that might affect their friendship. Besides, Mike is dating Eleven and the two are very much in love. As Stranger Things Memes stated on X (@SThingsmeme), Stranger Things Season 5 will reportedly address Will's feelings for Mike.

Will Byers' kidnapping in Season 1 is what kickstarted the show's story, and we learnt in Season 4 how Vecna was behind it all. Season 4 also showed us how Will had feelings for Mike. In a scene, we see Mike doubt Eleven's feelings for him. He thinks that since she is different and special, she might not need Mike after a while, and he might lose her. Will then, like a good friend, assured Mike that won't happen. He told Mike,

"It's just, she's [Eleven] so different from other people, and when you're, when you're different, sometimes you feel like a mistake. But you make her feel like she's not a mistake at all."

He continued to assure Mike some more, and then we saw him look outside the window of the van they were in, and cry silently. When Will talked about how Eleven might feel like a mistake for being different, he was actually also referring to himself feeling like a mistake for being different, for being gay. The show has only hinted at Will having feelings for Mike, but in Stranger Things Season 5, we might see Will's feelings being addressed. As Stranger Things Memes posted on X (@SThingsmeme), Noah Snapp reportedly spoke about Will's feelings for Mike being addressed, saying,

"We’ve always known Will has these feelings and they finally explore that and they take it to a place that’s very real. Season 5 hits a touch on every emotion you could think of: fear, heartbreak, anger, trauma."

We know that Mike and Eleven are most likely endgame due to their strong bond, and love that is rooted in friendship. Mike has been portrayed as straight in the show till now, and that will likely not change in Season 5. Besides, Schnapp's words, as reported by Stranger Things Memes, indicate that Will is going to be heartbroken, most likely because Mike won't reciprocate his feelings. While this hasn't been confirmed by the creators, we might just see Will's feelings getting properly addressed in Stranger Things Season 5.

Fear, anger, and trauma might be related to other aspects of the show, like the crew's anger towards Vecna, fear that they might not survive the final battle, and trauma of all that they have gone through.

Stranger Things Season 5 will be released on Netflix in three volumes. Volume one comes out on November 26, 2025, volume two on Christmas, and volume three on New Year's Eve.
