Untamed Season 2 is indeed in the works, and for a show that was originally designed to be a one-season mystery, that's a huge change! The initial season, which hit Netflix on July 17, 2025, tied up its Yosemite-based storyline nicely, but with the news of a new season, the writers clearly have more they want to do. This also hints at a potential new direction for the show, one that can spill over the boundaries of its original locus and format.

The co-creators of the show, Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, have been quite candid about their plans for Untamed Season 2. It will introduce a new national park, a new mystery, and a change in the dynamics for protagonist Kyle Turner, played by Eric Bana.

The intention is to maintain the grounded, investigative style of Season 1 but allow the second season to find its own identity.

With that in mind, here are the five biggest questions people are looking for Untamed Season 2 to resolve when it comes out

1. Will Kyle Turner really be out of his comfort zone?

In Season 2 of Untamed, one of the most intentional creative decisions is making Kyle Turner feel like an outsider. In Season 1, his experience with law enforcement helped him assert himself quickly, but the creators have assured that this time around, the tables will be turned; he will be in situations where he is less sure and more reactive than proactive.

This flip of roles is intended to test him both professionally and on a personal level. This change might reimagine the way audiences connect with the character, providing an alternative emotional depth from what we witnessed in Yosemite.

2. How will the park handle Paul's death?

Paul's death in Season 1 made a strong emotional impact, not just on the characters involved but also on the broader Yosemite community. In Untamed Season 2, although the location will change, it is unclear how, if at all, the series will deal with the repercussions of Paul's death. Will there be residual sorrow for those who were related to him?

Could hints of his death influence how characters in the following park view Turner and his history? Although the creative team hasn't ruled out whether Paul's arc will continue, it's a loose end that followers might anticipate getting tied up, or at least mentioned, in the new season.

3. Will Eric Bana return as Kyle Turner?

Yes, Eric Bana has officially been confirmed to return for Untamed Season 2. His return was inevitable, considering that Turner is a linchpin of the show's narrative, but the remaining cast of Season 2 has not been confirmed. The producers have not entirely eliminated the possibility of bringing back old characters, but they have mentioned that the new season will revolve around a new group and a predominantly new cast.

This is in line with the anthology-style path Untamed Season 2 appears to be headed toward, though no official statement has been issued on whether it will go the whole way with that style.

4. Could Naya return in the new season?

Naya's storyline in Season 1 didn't close completely, which leaves the door open for speculation on her potential return in Untamed Season 2. Although the overall plot concluded, some of the strands of her character's arc, her motivations, and unfinished relationships were left open-ended.

If they were to bring her back, her return could offer a narrative bridge between the two seasons, anchoring Turner's new investigation in some common history. However, the creators haven't confirmed her involvement yet, so at this point in time, it's still an open question.

5. Will this signal the beginning of a larger anthology format?

One of the biggest questions surrounding Untamed Season 2 is whether or not it will determine if the series will keep going as an anthology series. Season 1 was initially designed as a limited series, but because of the show's success, Netflix decided to continue with another season.

The idea of relocating to another park, introducing new characters, and having a new independent story every time works with the anthology format. Though the showrunners have hinted at this, they have not officially confirmed it, and fans are left waiting to see whether Season 2 will also refer back to Season 1 in ways that are incidental, or be completely independent.

Currently, Untamed Season 2 is on its way to become a spin-off and a reboot of the show. The officially confirmed changes (a new location, a redefined main character journey, and the potential for an expanded anthology) leave loads of space for new storytelling.

Although the first season of the show resolved most of its immediate questions, the second season's premise promises to allow for a whole other array of challenges. Now it's simply a matter of sitting back and waiting to see how, and when, these questions get resolved.
