Antón and Uxía’s hilarious situation in Old Dog, New Tricks ending, explained
The ninth episode of Old Dog, New Tricks opens up with Antón borrowing a coat for the court hearing he has. He is extremely tense about the imminent case as he is adamant about handling the situation by himself and not taking the help of a lawyer. Uxía tries to make her uncle understand that he is not aware of the laws like he is aware of cows, so he definitely needs the help of lawyers. However, Antón pays no heed to her niece’s words.
They keep on going back and forth about this issue on their way to the Kawanda clinic, where they find that a lot of patients are waiting for him. Antón’s first patient is a huge dog who is suffering from diarrhea. The pet parent asks Antón to do X-rays to find out more about the sickness, but he refuses and suggests the dog have bland food to recover.

The pet parent leaves angrily. On the other hand, Uxía receives a document that would decide her fate in Kawanda. She keeps on blabbering about what could be written in the documents. She tells the other employees that, irrespective of what is written in the document, she is a hard-working employee of Kawanda. When she opens the documents and reads them. It says that the board of directors has reached a decision on whether Uxía will continue with her role or be fired.
On the other hand, Antón reaches the court and is surprised to find a lawyer waiting for him. He tells him that he does not want a lawyer, but it is said that, as he is part of the criminal case, he must have a defense attorney.
Defeated, he agrees to go in front of the judge with the lawyer and explains the situation in his own way, which surprises the judge, who then gives him the next date for the hearing. The lawyer comes out and tells him to keep quiet. Right at that moment, he sees the pet parent whose pet he had treated.
When the lawyer informs him that the woman is the District Attorney, Antón tries to get her help by saying that he made the wrong decision of not doing the X-ray of her dog, and that there might be more to the case. Antón’s words worry her, and she promises to return the next day for a checkup.
While he is checking up, he tries to ask her whether remaining quiet in front of the judge would be beneficial for him, which makes her understand that he was lying to her at the court and just wanted legal advice. Antón’s plan fails; however, he decides to check on the items that the store sells to the pets to make sure that the pets are not getting poisoned from the products.
Antón, along with the other employees of Kawanda, keeps searching, which leads them to find that the free item was poisonous. Right at that moment, a man comes searching for Uxía, and it can be understood that he has arrived to fire her. He gives her a severance agreement and tells her to go.
Uxía uses her quick thinking to inform the man that the free items were causing harm to the pets, which makes the man backtrack from firing her. Though Uxía could easily take the chance to keep her job in exchange for keeping quiet, her strong morals stopped her from doing so. She signed the agreement and agreed to leave the job. This truly proves her integrity as a person and dedication to helping others in Old Dog, New Tricks.

At the hearing, though Antón was worried that he would lose the case and be jailed, Vicente admitted the truth and freed Antón. Antón becomes a free man, which he deserved to be.
Back at the store, the new manager, in place of Uxía, tells him to use methods to increase the business, which makes Antón. The series ends with Antón shouting out in frustration, which adds a layer of humor and depth to the story of Old Dog, New Tricks.
