Amaia suspects her friends and teammates are being drugged by Olympo
The runners, swimmers, and athletes at Pirineos High Performance Center (HPC) practice with one goal—the chance to participate and win gold at the Olympics. However, besides practicing for the same, the players also eye a sponsorship from the clothing brand Olympo, as that would give them the kind of recognition they would need to further improve their careers as players.
One of the best performers at HPC, Amaia, however, becomes suspicious of Olympo and its practices after she sees her best friend Nuria perform extremely well and then fall sick. Amaia thinks that Olympo is probably drugging the players for their best performance, and what is even more shocking is that the kind of drugs they are using are not turning up in the test results.
Amaia, being the hardworking athlete she is, gets determined to expose Olympo to everyone. However, she finds little to no support initially, and her constant attempts to find proofs against Olympo make her performance suffer, which breaks her spirit further.
Amaia eventually takes drugs in Olympo
While no one initially trusted Amaia when she claimed that the players were being drugged, and she was alienated by her friends; Zoe, Cristian, and Roque, they understand that Amaia was right. They also decide to expose the truth and thus arrange a meeting before the night of the final announcement regarding the selection of the players for the Olympics.
Unfortunately, Amaia never shows up to the meeting, leading to her friends thinking that she has been harmed by the authorities. However, it is soon revealed that nothing has happened to her as she is shown to be performing with Nuria. This appears to be shocking to Amaia’s friends, who know that Nuria has been constantly being drugged, and thus to perform with her in equal measure would require the other person to take the drug as well.
Amaia’s performance with Nuria makes it clear that she eventually succumbed to the company's power and took the drugs. It became clear to her that what she was trying to do was almost impossible given the kind of hold Olympo had, and it was only affecting her own performance. Since she could not give up on her ambitions and aspirations, Amaia decided that taking the drugs was the best option for her.
Olympo is streaming on Netflix.
