According to reports, filming for One Piece season 2 has occurred in Cape Town, South Africa, with additional locations in Spain and Mexico. The showrunner is Joe Tracz, known for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In Season 1, Matt Owens worked as co-showrunner with Steven Maeda after they developed the series together. On March 21, Owens shared via Instagram that he would be stepping away from the series to focus on personal matters he is currently dealing with.

“The 6 years working on the live action ‘One Piece’ has been a life changing journey. A dream come true. It’s also been A Lot. So I’m stepping off the Going Merry to take a break and focus on myself and my mental health"

Before production began on Season 2, Maeda resigned as showrunner but continued as an executive producer, with Joe Tracz assuming those responsibilities.

Season 1 also featured a post-credit scene that set the stage for Smoker's arrival, and Season 2 is expected to delve deeper into the conflict involving Baroque Works and the pursuit of the Alabasta arc. Therefore, this group of talented cast members and a promising production team continues the Straw Hat Pirates' thrilling adventures.
