Episode 7 is titled Silver Alert and picks up after a major shakeup. Lester's murder investigation takes a turn as the evidence points towards Bash, who secretly arranged for acquiring the group podcast and silencing them from investigating further. They also get to know that Steed, the mysterious tech mogul, is the mastermind behind "The Last Gasp", the absurd dating app Charles has been using. Moreover, he might also have been using artificial intelligence to manipulate Charles and get out crucial details about the investigation.

The team is now bound by contracts, and they decide to move away from the murder mystery for some time and invite the New York City mayor, Beau Tillman, as a guest. The podcast that started out awkwardly then dived deep into politics, while the mayor's facade is quickly exposed. His confident turns to terror, and in secret whispers, he warns the trio that if Bash is even suspected of being the murderer, then there is a good chance he actually did it.

The group is stunned with this information, while the Mayor further tells them about how he took large donations from Steed during his campaign, and is his puppet even now. He underscores how Bash has connections deep into law enforcement and city politics. Bash is hosting a private off-the-record meeting with only the power players, and the trio decides to go undercover to investigate.
