Oscar Isaac, the gifted actor who has starred in everything from the fearless pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars to the enigmatic Marc Spector in Marvel's Moon Knight, recently posted some news that disappointed MCU fans. Isaac was open and somewhat sarcastic in a recent interview with GQ Magazine, where he stated that he does not want to work on any Disney-owned project at the moment. That subtly involves coming back as Marc Spector in Moon Knight Season 2.This is easy to explain: Isaac did not sign a long-term contract with Marvel, so he is not expected to be back for another season of Moon Knight. Unless he is willing to collaborate with Disney again, this may spell doom for Moon Knight Season 2.What Oscar Isaac actually saidOscar did not announce it or lay any hints about Moon Knight Season 2; he simply exuded an atmosphere. When questioned on whether he would work with Disney again, he responded that he would consider it, but at this time, he is not really much interested in doing business with them, and that it would depend on whether or not the company has succumbed to fascism. This was a two-fold saying; firstly, it was an opinion on the recent political and creative decisions made by Disney when they briefly took the Jimmy Kimmel show off air, and secondly, it clarified that he is not so interested in being involved in any Disney-led projects at this time.In a conversation with GQ Magazine, Oscar Isaac said:“Right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great. But if that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away. Or any number of other things.”This is because, unlike many other actors of the MCU, Oscar Isaac does not have a long-term contract with the company (so, his own choice counts here). Without him on board, it is not easy to take Moon Knight Season 2 to the next level. When he says that he is not so open, he is not just talking; this might be a serious issue in the plans of Marvel. Why is this a big deal for Moon Knight View this post on Instagram Instagram PostMoon Knight was so well-received by the viewers primarily because of Oscar Isaac. He brought depth, volatility, and emotion to the role. Without him, the show would have lost so much of its sparkle. Marvel's attempt to recast him in Moon Knight Season 2 or create a spin-off could be risky; he would be immediately missed, and some parts of the unique tone might go out the window.Considering Moon Knight connects to the overall Marvel universe as well, heroes are supposed to pop up in other stories. However, with Oscar Isaac not exactly so warm about a Disney collaboration right away, it seems unlikely we'll see Moon Knight return with a Season 2 or join any big MCU crossovers anytime soon. What fans and Marvel can actually expect nextOscar Isaac - Source: GettyFans shouldn't get their hopes too high. While nothing has officially been cancelled, it is pretty clear that chances for Moon Knight Season 2 right now are really slim. Often studios change their minds because new offers, fan demands, or changes behind the scenes bring people together, so it's not impossible that it would come back. But until Oscar Isaac himself says something positive, it's pretty much safe to know that the show is on hold. It'll likely only move forward if Marvel and Disney create a plan that Isaac feels good about, both professionally and personally. That may mean fans will have to wait a long time, or perhaps see Moon Knight show up in other Marvel projects instead of a second season. For now, expect more cryptic interview answers and measured comments from Marvel, with plenty of online theorizing because when one actor holds the key to a main character's return in a series, waiting becomes part of the fandom experience. For more such insights, keep following SoapCentral.
