Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 Episode 2, titled S.W.A.K. (Sealed With A Kiss), aired on August 8, 2025. The story shifts to 1917, where Lieutenant Henry Beauchamp fights on the Western Front and begins a letter exchange with London War Office worker Julia Moriston. Their correspondence turns into a romance, leading to marriage before a trip to Scotland.

Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston meet in 1917 through an exchange of letters. Henry, a lieutenant stationed on the Western Front in Belgium, writes an open letter describing the harsh reality of trench warfare.

Julia, working in the Postal and Telegraph Censorship Department in London, is assigned to review the letter. Instead of censoring it, she decides to reply. Their correspondence grows frequent, covering topics from literature to personal beliefs, with each signing letters “S.W.A.K.” for “Sealed With A Kiss.”

Over time, their exchanges become personal and affectionate. Henry writes about his daily life at the front, including the fear and loss surrounding him. Julia shares her interest in Scotland, her love of Robert Burns’ poetry, and her dreams of studying at a university.

They begin to rely on these letters for hope. Eventually, Henry’s leave from the front is approved. He spots Julia on a London street and calls out their shared phrase, “hope springs eternal.”

She recognises him instantly, and they embrace. Their meeting quickly turns into a deeper connection. Soon after, they marry, with Julia supporting Henry through his war-related nightmares. Their relationship begins with words and quickly builds into a shared life before events in Scotland change their future.

Henry and Julia’s trip to Scotland takes an unexpected turn. After their marriage, they travel through the Highlands, leaving their young daughter Claire in London with her uncle. Julia is pregnant with their second child during this journey. While driving along a rural road, an elk runs across their path.

Henry swerves sharply to avoid it, sending their motorcar down into a river. Both survive the crash and find themselves walking for hours across the Highlands, unsure of their exact location. They eventually come across the stone circle of Craigh na Dun. The site is known to be a time portal, though they are unaware of its nature.

Julia touches one of the stones and is pulled through to another time. The gemstone from her wedding ring disappears during the process, marking the price of travel. Henry reaches the stones moments later, but Julia is already gone. He eventually follows, though the passage leaves them in different places.

This separation marks the start of their challenges in the 18th century. Each lands in unfamiliar surroundings, unable to locate the other immediately, setting the stage for their separate paths in a time far removed from their own.

In Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 Episode 2, Julia’s arrival in 1714 in Scotland quickly puts her in danger. She wakes near the stones, unaware of the date or location, and decides to head toward Inverness. Using a rock, she writes “S.W.A.K.” and draws an arrow pointing in her intended direction in case Henry follows. Before she can travel far, she is approached by locals who speak only Gaelic.

Initially appearing helpful, they instead place a bag over her head and strike her. She is taken to Castle Leathers and handed over to Lord Simon Fraser as payment for the captors’ debt. Once inside, the housekeeper, Mistress Davina Porter, warns her to avoid being alone with Lord Lovat.

Julia is forced into the role of maidservant and quickly realises she is in 1714. She searches for a map to plan an escape but must avoid Lord Lovat’s unwanted attention. When she eventually tries to flee during a storm, Brian Fraser intercepts her.

He warns that her attempt will end badly, as his father’s men will hunt her down. Simon Fraser later discovers her escape attempt and orders twenty lashes. Brian steps in, claiming it was his idea, and takes the punishment himself. Julia gains an ally but remains trapped.

In Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 Episode 2, Henry arrives in 1714 Scotland shortly after Julia. He discovers the “S.W.A.K.” message she left and follows the arrow toward Inverness.

His search leads him to a tavern where he meets Malcolm Grant, who covers the cost of Henry’s drink. Overhearing a discussion about a land deal, Henry realises the Grant clan is being misled. He points out that without proper terms, the clan will not gain ownership of the land.

In Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 Episode 2, Malcolm takes him to meet his father, Laird Isaac Grant. Henry explains the issue and suggests checking the current bladier for dishonesty. A hidden purse of coins is found, proving Henry right. Isaac orders the bladier’s execution and offers Henry the position.

At first, Henry declines, explaining he is searching for someone. Isaac advises that joining the clan will give him protection and freedom to travel across the Highlands. Recognising the advantage, Henry accepts the role. His duties as bladier involve acting as the clan’s spokesperson, allowing him to gather information that might lead to Julia.

Despite the position’s dangers, including the threat of ending up like his predecessor, Henry sees it as the most effective way to continue his search while securing an alliance in unfamiliar territory.
