Starz's historical romance drama series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, starring Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy, rolled out its first two episodes on August 8, 2025.
Created by Diana Gabaldon, this series is a prequel to the long-running show Outlander, and it is based on the lives of Jamie and Claire's parents.
Apart from Roy and Slater, it also features Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Tony Curran, Sara Vickers, and Conor MacNeil in pivotal roles. The synopsis of the show reads,
"The prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, centers on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser's parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie."
The series has generated a steady buzz among viewers for its unusual blend of history and fantasy. In episode 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, viewers saw how Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moritson started as pen pals, gradually falling in love and then getting married.
However, things turned upside down when they got separated during a holiday in the Highlands. They found themselves plunged into time travel. What follows is Henry searching for her relentlessly. He meets Malcolm Grant, who pays for his drinks in a tavern. He returns the favour by giving him some important business ideas.
Malcolm takes him to Issac, who gets quite impressed by Henry's foresight. Henry gives him a heads up on the treachery of the clan advisor, and thus Issac makes him the Grant family's bladier.
For many, the term Bladier might be a bit confusing and outdated. In Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a bladier refers to someone who serves as an advisor or counselor for a clan. Their job is to advise the clans on their financial and legal matters. Additionally, they could also represent the clan during deals and councils. A bladier also served as the chief's emissary, conveying information and the chief's messages.

What does a bladier mean in Outlander: Blood of My Blood?
In episode 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, Henry becomes the Grant family's Bladier.
Apart from that, Ned Gowan serves as a bladier for the Mackenzie clan. If you search for Bladier on the internet, you might find many sources tagging it as someone who's a craftsperson, but in the show, the meaning is entirely different.
When Malcolm gets impressed by the business ideas that Henry shares in the tavern, he brings him to his father, Issac. Henry further tells him that the reason for their failed deal is their current bladier, who is misrepresenting them. Issac gets impressed with Henry's advice and makes him the bladier.
Henry, although initially skeptical, takes up the role as it would help him travel safely and search for Julia, even in the countryside. Meanwhile, the former bladier was located, mercilessly beaten, and then beheaded.
