After a long wait, the Frasers will be back for a final chapter in the Outlander saga, set to premiere in early 2026 on Starz. It will bring back Caitríona Balfe as Claire and Sam Heughan as Jamie for the concluding season.
Starz reveals what you expect from the new season,
“Fans can anticipate tender romance and the edge-of-your-seat drama Outlander fans have come to cherish over the past decade, as the celebrated series approaches its epic conclusion. With a life-threatening prophecy, will Jamie Fraser once again escape the grasp of fate?”
In 2023, the series was renewed for an eighth and final ten-episode season. Upon the announcement of this renewal in 2023, Kathryn Busby from Starz shared the following statement, per Variety:
“For nearly a decade, Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide, and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion...We’re thrilled to continue to partner with Matthew, Maril, and Ronald and can’t wait to see where their alluring storytelling takes us next.”
The trailer offers a glimpse into Claire and Jamie's present-day lives, when they are decades past their glorious youth and are reaching the dawn of their era.
Outlander final season teaser trailer offers a heartfelt ode to the show's enduring legacy
The newly released teaser trailer for Outlander's final season borrows the lyricism from the show's storytelling. It offers a peek into Claire and Jaime's past to reveal everything they have been through together over their lives. From the first moment they laid eyes on each other to the present, the war has broken their spirit, leaving them with a difficult choice.
Even after all the time they have spent together, the couple seems just as deeply in love with each other as they were before. It seems like the same love might lead them to make a sacrifice. Will they be able to stay together or drift apart, leading to a tragic end? The answers will hopefully be revealed once the final season arrives on the network.
While Balfe and Heughan reprise their roles, the swansong from this epic time-travel romance series will also star Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter, John Bell as Young Ian, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, David Berry as Lord John Grey, and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.

Until now, the show has often covered the events from Diana Gabaldon's eponymous book series. Since the eighth season is supposed to conclude the TV series, TVLine believes it might include events from the following two books. Speaking about what fans can expect from the eighth season, co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told TVLine,
"[The guidelines for Season 8 were] nothing that doesn’t affect Jamie and Claire gets in. It’s gotta affect Jamie and Claire. All the main characters do — they’re a part of it — but that’s the drive. There’s so many aspects. I mean, they’re all big books. There’s things where you kind of go over here, and you go over here — that’s what makes the books so readable and fun. But when you have 10 episodes, you have to stay literally on track.”
Outlander season 8 is expected to premiere in early 2026.
