Amazon Prime Video's latest comedy series, Overcompensating, finally ended with an explosive finale, where Benny finds himself in a difficult situation. The first-year college student was trying to accept his s*xuality as a gay man, after he developed a crush on another student, Miles.

Things were starting to look good for Benny after he quit the Flesh and Gold society for real, and reconciled with his high school friend Sammy. While he is finally taking steps forward and accepting who he is, he walks in on Carmen and Miles kissing, which shatters his world.

Not only did he just see his best friend kissing his crush, but she also outs him in front of Miles and Grace. Overcompensating ends with this shocking cliffhanger.

Here's the complete ending breakdown of Overcompensating.

Benny finally quits the Flesh and Gold society in the Overcompensating finale

The Flesh and Gold society in Benny's college is just another way for hypermasculine boys like Peter to reaffirm their gender and s*xuality. While Benny did not sit right with society's image, he chose to be a part of it because of the approval he got there.

However, when Peter discontinues his antidepressants in Overcompensating, it affects him in a negative way, and he ends up writing terrible things about other members and Carmen on a slideshow, causing a scandal.

Benny takes this as an opportunity to lie to Carmen about him quitting the society, but when she finds out anyway and feels betrayed, he leaves the society for good.

Miles and Carmen kiss in the Overcompensating finale

After Benny and Carmen have a heart-to-heart and he genuinely apologises to her, the best friends reconcile and decide to go to Grace's party. However, the news about Carmen's affair with Peter has reached Grace and her group (thanks to Peter's scandal), after which she publicly insults her.

Carmen's brother's death, complicated friendship with her roommate Benny, and now Grace, leave her in shambles, and she thinks she is not capable of friendship. She leaves the party in an emotionally vulnerable state and meets Miles, who is having a low moment of his own.

One thing leads to the other and Miles misunderstands Carmen's friendship as something else and kisses her. Before Carmen could understand what was happenin or stop him, Benny walks in on the pair kissing and the situation spirals out of control.

While Carmen tries to explain herself, Benny accuses her of kissing Miles. Being ostracized for her s*xual choices, she accidentally outs him in front of Miles and Grace, and the secret about his s*xuality is finally out in front of his crush and sister.

What does the Overcompensating ending mean for Benny's future?

The Overcompensating finale is packed with many twists and turns for Benny, as he tries to grapple with his s*xuality. While his need for validation and to live up to the masculine image his friends have envisioned for him is strong, he is starting to move past it. He quits the toxic society, which is evident enough.

Elsewhere, he also makes amends with Sammy, his high school friend. It is revealed that he once brutally rejected Sammy's advances towards him, which created a wedge between them. In the Overcompensating finale, he not only reconciles with Sammy but also stands up in the bar against homophobic comments aimed at him.

Finally, while Benny's s*xuality was outed to Miles and Grace in the worst possible situation, it might give him the courage to accept himself more freely. We still don't know Miles' s*xuality or whether he likes Benny romantically, so it remains to be seen what the future holds for Benny's crush on him.
