Stick, the Apple TV+ sports comedy starring Owen Wilson, which was released on 4th June 2025, has just wrapped up its first season on 23rd July 2025 with its eighth episode.
While it initially did not sit right with pro golfers, the show has become quite a success, as far as critics and the general audience are concerned. The show has a score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer and 70% on the Popcornmeter.
Right when Stick wrapped up its first season, Apple TV+ announced that the show has been renewed for a second season. Apple TV+ said in the announcement,
Time for another round. Stick has been renewed for Season 2.
Stick starring Owen Wilson has been renewed for season two
Stick follows a golfer, Pryce Hall (played by Owen Wilson), who was right where he wanted to be in his career, but his one mistake ruined his plans. As a last resort, he mentors a teenager, and hopes that will revive some part of his career. The official logline, according to Apple TV+ states,
Pryce Cahill (Owen Wilson) was headed for golf greatness when an on-course meltdown derailed his career. Now struggling to stay afloat, he goes all in to mentor Santi-a teenage phenom with immense potential--and maybe save himself.
The show has been created by Jason Keller and produced by Propagate, Entertainment 360, Kellerama, and Apple Studios. Kathy Gilroy and James Thompson III are also producers. The show has been executive produced by Jason Keller, Christopher Moynihan, Ben Silverman, Guymon Casady, Rodney Ferrell, Howard T. Owens, Drew Buckley, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Bill Callahan, Owen Wilson, Valerie Faris, Jonathan Dayton, and Jaffar Mahmood.
According to Collider, Jason Keller spoke on the renewal, saying,
"I am inspired and humbled by the audience reaction to 'Stick,' and I’m thrilled to be making a second season with this magical cast, led by the incomparable Owen Wilson, and the wonderful creative team at Apple TV+. It’s a joy to be able to continue this story. Most importantly, however, this season two order will provide me with an undeniable excuse to play even more golf. Thank you, Apple TV+.”

The show stars Owen Wilson as Pryce Cahill, Peter Dager as Santi Wheeler, Lilli Kay as Zero, Mariana Treviño as Elena Wheeler, and Marc Maron as Mitts. The recurring cast includes Judy Greer as Amber-Linn and Timothy Olyphant as Clark Ross. Stick also features several professional golfers and sports commentators as guest stars who play themselves in the show. The guest stars include Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman, Keegan Bradley, Wyndham Clark, Max Homa, Brad Dalke, and Collin Morikawa.
As Collider reports, Owen Wilson spoke about the season two renewal, saying,
“I think we all had a great time making it. It’s really nice to see the show connecting with people to know that we get a chance to continue the story!”
