Besides Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett’s performance as Norma is also a crucial factor in the storyline of the second season. In the first episode of Palm Royale Season 2, Maxine’s struggle at the asylum becomes a crucial plot point of the storyline. Initially, she thinks that she is inside Palm Royale. However, slowly, with Linda’s help, Maxine understands that she is not in Palm Royale but in an asylum. She quickly tries to escape from the place, but it does not happen easily.

She visits Robert and finds Norma’s truth and decides to take matters into her own hands before things get further complicated. After hearing Norma speak with Robert, she tries to tell Douglas about it, but she gets injected with a sedative by one of the staff members of the asylum and is not able to reveal the truth fully.

On the other hand, Norma prepares to make Mitzi part of her family. She tells her that she does not want Maxine around. Dinah also begins to rethink her decision to marry Axel. She reaches out to Maxine. She then tells her the truth about her feelings. The first episode brings forth multiple storylines and connects them in a seamless manner.

This episode of Palm Royale ends with Maxine coming out of the asylum. She does so with the help of Dominique de Marche. She comes out of the asylum and finds that Evelyn is waiting for her. On the other hand, Dinah finally gets the courage to explain her true feelings to Axel. However, when she finally tells the truth about her feelings to Axel, she finds out that his hands are cold and he is actually dead.

There is complete chaos at the end of the first episode of Palm Royale Season 2, which becomes a signifier of the more intriguing plotlines that are yet to come, now that Maxine is out of the asylum and could cause a hindrance in Norma’s plans.
