James Gunn returns to his wild, irreverent corner of the DC Universe as Peacemaker Season 2 is set to hit screens with an all-star new cast, massive battles, and unexpected pairings. Peacemaker, starring John Cena, is joined by returning favorites and a new pool of DCU faces in a season exploding with action, laugh-out-loud humor, and some surprising heart.

Still fresh off the battlefields of Project Butterfly, with Cena’s Chris Smith battling both inner and outer demons, Peacemaker Season 2 gears up a notch. We have new villains, including a vindictive Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), alternate realities, and cameos peeking across the DCU.

Here is what we have concluded in terms of the cast and characters that make the next step of Peacemaker's success.

John Cena as Chris Smith/Peacemaker: The central antihero makes his comeback in Peacemaker Season 2, as he is still conflicted between his ideals and the carnage his trail leaves behind. This time, Cena is included in another interesting twist: he is both the regular Peacemaker and a multiverse version of himself, which doubles the mess and the conflict within.

Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo: Revealed to be the daughter of Amanda Waller, Leota is the closest living human confidant of Peacemaker. Creating her path with her exiles and scarred emotions, she attempts to claim her path in the wake of outing her mother and being blacklisted by the intelligence agencies.

Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante: He is a fun, comedic partner who has a brotherly relationship with the Peacemaker. His strange code of morals and readiness to go the extra mile leave matters explosive, yet faithful. Vigilante will be both the source of tension and comic relief.

Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt: Harcourt is still recovering in the wake of the finale of last season, reprising her role as the stalwart, hard-as-nails A.R.G.U.S. operator. In Peacemaker Season 2, her flaws and how she gets along with Peacemaker and the other team members will be addressed.

Steve Agee as John Economos: The technical genius is still important to the squad in Peacemaker Season 2. The story of Economos focuses on his struggle to adapt to a new life following his involvement with A.R.G.U.S. in his previous life, and he remains an earnest person in his approach, which keeps him rooted in the mess.

Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith/White Dragon (Multiverse): Patrick returns in Peacemaker Season 2, but this time as an alternate reality White Dragon, since he was killed in Season 1. The father-son trauma should also hit new levels, at least as far as the show takes a turn toward multiversal storytelling.

Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.: One of the leading antagonists in Peacemaker Season 2 is Flag Sr., who is carried away with anger because of the death of his son (Rick Flag Jr., killed by the Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad). Grillo, being the new A.R.G.U.S. manager and the former leader of the Creature Commandos, means we can expect to see some stakes, as he radiates an ominous vibe as well.

Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux: New-to-town Sasha Bordeaux, whose bodyguarding ties are to DC Comics, joins the series as an A.R.G.U.S. agent. Rodriguez may be pointing at a more significant future role for Sasha in the larger DCU through these hints of a multi-layered role.

Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury: Tim Meadows, the longtime comedic actor, stars as an A.R.G.U.S. agent who is hired to track down Peacemaker. One may anticipate a fast thinker with a mission-based determination at his side, next to Bordeaux.

Nhut Le as Judomaster: Judomaster comes back in Peacemaker Season 2 as a supporter of the Butterfly cause with a broader role, unclear allegiances, and wildcard opportunities on Team Peacemaker.

Michael Rooker as Red St. Wild: Rooker plays an eccentric, world-class eagle hunter who is after the avian companion of this Peacemaker, Eagly. Red St. Wild is a new Gunn production, which brings in characteristic unpredictability.

Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders or Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord: With a potentially bigger plot for upcoming TV shows or films, these DCU cameos can be seen in another panel where a supposed “Justice Gang” judges Peacemaker.

Supporting cast and newcomers: Taylor St. Clair, Dorian Kingi, David Denman, Anissa Matlock, and Brandon Stanley (roles undisclosed); Brey Noelle as White Rabbit, a criminal of the DC Comics universe who can make multiple copies of herself.

Eagly: The relentless bald eagle sidekick is back to entertain us with more airborne, scene-stealing antics.

Confirmed guest stars include Terence Rosemore (reprising his role of Otis Berg in Superman), Stephen Blackehart (reprising his role of Sydney Happersen in Superman), and James Hiroyuki Liao (reprising General Mori in the season 1 finale of Superman).

What is Peacemaker about?

Peacemaker is a DC Universe series based on the DC film The Suicide Squad (2021), written and directed by James Gunn, and following ultra-violent, yet somehow principled, antihero Christopher Smith (portrayed by John Cena). The series features a healthy dose of irreverent comedy and satirical approaches to patriotism, as well as surprisingly grounded character drama that follows Smith's post-trauma as a government operative.

Season 1 featured a mix of Project Butterfly, the development of unlikely friendships, and the exposure of Amanda Waller's cold machinations. Season 2 takes off in a different direction, pitting Chris against foes in other corners of the DCU, the demons of his personal history, and parallel universes.

The first of the eight weekly episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on HBO Max in the United States on August 21, 2025. The last episode will premiere on October 9, 2025.
