Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 gives us a nice surprise: a complete shout-out to the famous Spider-Man pointing meme. The characters go to the extent of making jokes, saying, “We Spider-Man meme’d,” which translates to Spider-Man being a familiar fictitious hero within the DC world. That small moment in Peacemaker has fans buzzing all over the internet: Is it a clue to a larger Marvel-DC crossover? Or is it just a playful nod?

Interestingly, Marvel and DC comics have been warming up to each other once again. In 2025, they published special one-shot comics in which Marvel’s Deadpool met DC’s Batman. That demonstrates that the companies might collaborate with one another when it fits the story.

However, it is not easy to make a live-action crossover out of a half-joke. Films and programs are associated with large organizations, costly licensing, and cautious creative choices. At this point, Peacemaker's Spider-Man meme is more of a wink at the audience, instead of an actual strategy. Nevertheless, it still serves as evidence that the creators of Peacemaker gladly torment the fans and keep the dream of a Marvel-DC collaboration alive.

What the Spider-Man nod in Peacemaker Season 2 means

The Peacemaker episode that everybody is talking about is Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6. Vigilante encounters a person who looks like him, and they recreate the widely known Spider-Man pointing meme. They even say, “We Spider-Man meme’d.”

The scene might be a brief one, but it provides more than just laughs. It demonstrates that Spider-Man is merely a comic book and movie-based character in the DC world, but not a real hero who can enter the story of Peacemaker. This is important due to the fact that the actual crossover between Marvel and DC would require strong legal contracts and thorough planning in order to fit the two universes.

It is therefore not a subtle indication of a team-up. It is just an intelligent pop-culture allusion. The writers of Peacemaker are themselves enjoying it, and it provides the fans with a lighthearted, meta-moment that glorifies the culture of superheroes without violating any of the rules or plot lines.

The Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman comic crossover

A case in point is the 2025 Marvel/DC one-shot comics, which most certainly prove that the competing publishers can collaborate. Marvel released Deadpool/Batman #1 on September 17, 2025, and DC dropped Batman/Deadpool in November. These were advertised as real team-ups between the two franchises, the first in several years.

This type of crossover is only possible in comics. Editors from both sides reached a consensus on terms and each company retains its characters. No one has to be concerned with actors, rights to stream, or share movie profits.

Due to that fact, writers and artists have a chance to play with styles. The wild and joking nature of Deadpool is the complete contrast of the serious and detective atmosphere of Batman, and that was precisely what the editors were interested in experimenting with.

The one-shots also reveal that the barriers that exist in the business can be reduced when both publishers are interested. It has previously happened with classics like Superman vs. Spider-Man (1976) and JLA/Avengers (2003). The 2025 issues are a fresh revival of that tradition.

However, just because it works on the comics pages does not imply that it will also work in movies and TV shows. Live-action crossovers come with far larger legal transactions, larger budgets, and more complex planning.

How a screen crossover could actually happen

There are several different ways that a screen crossover can occur, and each of them is associated with its degree of difficulty.

The first one is the quick wink. This is the easiest route. It happens when a show or movie inclusion leaks a little reference, or inside joke, such as a Spider-Man meme in Peacemaker Season 2, but they do not affect the story in any real way. These small hints are very popular among fans as they make them feel rewarded, and the studios do not have to go over the top and change timelines.

Next is a multiverse cameo. This is followed by the revelation of another hero in an alternate timeline or through a portal. It is a little more difficult to achieve, but can be managed with effort. The worlds remain distinct, but viewers experience that awe-inspiring moment when a character from a different universe appears. Peacemaker has already experimented with this concept through dimension-hopping and variants, so it is perfectly suited.

The final option is a full team-up. The most difficult is the true crossover in which characters have a common big story or switch between shows and movies. That involves a lot of legal negotiations, studio deals, and meticulous planning to safeguard every brand. It has been done in comic books, so it is not impossible, but on screen, it will take years of negotiations.

In the meantime, fans are left to enjoy the joking foreshadowing, and creators continue to tease and dream about a larger handshake in the future.
