Peacemaker Season 2 to have an even bigger opening dance sequence revealed actor Steve Agee

James Gunn created the American superhero TV show Peacemaker for HBO Max. It is a spin-off of The Suicide Squad (2021) and centers on John Cena’s character Chris Smith, also referred to as Peacemaker.

Shot in Vancouver, the first season premiered on January 13, 2022. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews for its unique combination of drama, dark humor, and action. According to actor Steve Agee, the opening dance sequence for Peacemaker Season 2 will be considerably more elaborate and large-scale. So, I'm not going to not do anything, and I fully trust James creatively. Much like Vigilante, I tolerate the dance numbers. This new dance number is much larger. I mean, we have a much bigger cast this season.

Unlike the dance sequence from Season 1, which was filmed in a single day, this one took two full days to shoot. With numerous new faces entering the cast and certain Season 1 characters no longer appearing, the choreography had to change. At San Diego Comic-Con’s Peacefest event, it was revealed that the new number will feature Foxy Shazam’s “Oh Lord,” giving a fresh twist to the show’s tradition.

Agee praised the opening sequence’s impact on viewers and how it contributed to the series’ identity, although admitting that he dislikes dancing.

To allow audiences to fully experience the surprise during the premiere, the production team decided not to preview the Season 2 dance at Comic-Con. This decision reflects the sequence’s growing importance as a symbol of the show’s lighter spirit and a fan-favorite feature.

Agee also discussed what fans may expect from his character this season. Economos was shown as a loner in Season 1, but he gradually came to accept the 11th Street Kids.

This loyalty will be tested in Season 2, particularly when he must reconcile his personal ties to ARGUS with his professional commitments. His friendship with Peacemaker will also become stronger, like an odd pair, with Economos providing resources and strategy and Peacemaker providing strength and protection. Additionally, he will have a delicate relationship with Vigilante, which Agee compares to juggling an annoying younger sister.

The actor hinted that Season 2 will have a wilder tone and a broader scope. He described the final three episodes as the most intriguing of the entire series, referring to plotlines that cut across “several worlds.”
