Peacemaker Season 2 premiered on August 21, 2025, more than three years after the first season ended. Thus, it is safe to say that Peacemaker Season 2 was a highly anticipated one. It followed Chris Smith as he discovered an alternate universe where his father and brother hadn't died, and three of them were celebrated heroes. However, this alternate universe, called Earth-X, had Nazi America, and not everything was as perfect as it seemed.
Peacemaker Season 2 premiered with the episode "The Ties That Grind," which has an IMDb rating of 8. The following episodes had high ratings, all being rated above 7. However, the eighth and last episode of the season, "Full Nelson", has the lowest IMDb rating of the season at 6.8.
Peacemaker Season 2 finale has the lowest rating of the season
Peacemaker Season 2 has kept its fans on the edge of their seat all season. The season began with Chris finally finding a place where, instead of hating him, people celebrated him. He ends up killing his alternate self from Earth-X by mistake, and then impersonates him in the alternate universe. Auggie and Keith Smith of Earth-X initially did not suspect anything was off with Chris until Auggie caught Economos in his house (when the 11th Street Kids went to bring back Chris), and Economos spilt everything in a state of panic.
Throughout Peacemaker Season 2, we saw the differences between the main DCU and Earth-X and how Chris preferred the latter due to his traumatic past. The season also showed us Rick Flag Sr., hell-bent on finding Chris and the QUC, and doing everything to do so. While the season built up for an epic season finale, it seems the fans were not too satisfied.
As mentioned earlier, all episodes of the season, except the finale, have an IMDb rating above 7. Ignorance is Chris and Like a Keith in the Night have the highest rating of 9.2. Thus, fans have evidently enjoyed the entire season and its story. With the way Like a Keith in the Night ended, there were multiple ways the finale could go. While we did get to see Chris getting bailed out of prison, Emilia admitting the night on the boat meant everything to her, and A.R.G.U.S. agents discovering alternate universes, the finale, Full Nelson, could manage to get only a 6.8 rating on IMDb.
The entire season had built up for a finale that fans were hoping would be one of the best episodes of the season. However, it did not touch upon a few things like what happened to Earth-X's Keith and if he's going to avenge his father and brother's death, and ended the season at a point where we don't know if Chris will survive in Salvation. Besides, the show did not have any cameos or show us any other alternate universes that could hint at an upcoming DCU character.
It is evident that fans wanted more from the finale or were not as satisfied as they were with the previous episodes. Hence, the fall in rating. Peacemaker Season 3 is yet to be confirmed, but if it does get the greenlight, it will hopefully make up for the unsatisfactory finale and rise in ratings once more.
Peacemaker Season 2 is streaming on HBO Max.
