Peacemaker Season 2 star Jennifer Holland, who stars as Emilia Harcourt, has sneakily emerged as one of the best actors of the show. She is witty, cool, and remarkably funny. Ever since Peacemaker Season 2 shooting was over, Holland has been bragging about the fun she had on the set.
It was not only the grand emotional moments or the twists and turns of the plot; it was the pleasure of working with the cast and crew, who were having the time of their lives doing the same.
In between the action rehearsal, amusing scenes, and the wild creativity of James Gunn, Holland mentions that the set at times felt less like a movie set and more like a playground. All were able to experiment, laugh, and do new things. It is that psychological combination of intensity and humor that makes Emilia Harcourt such a good and entertaining character to follow.
What Jennifer Holland said

When you consider the amount of fun the individuals in the show have in producing it, then Peacemaker Season 2 is the clear winner. According to Jennifer Holland, the cast and the crew were laughing all the time, even when the story became either dark or absolutely wild. The long days, awkward effects, long fight scenes, and emotional situations might be challenging, but they managed to keep it light with jokes, improvisation, and ridiculous off-camera scenes that made everyone feel at ease.
In a conversation with Collider, Jennifer Holland said:
“It was a joyous experience. I had such a great time….We had an absolutely incredible time. All the extra actors were having a great time. It seemed like everyone was really enjoying it….I like that (creator) James [Gunn] has such fearlessness in tackling complicated social issues when it comes to the stories that he writes and the characters that he’s dealing with.”
This playful energy, as Holland describes it, turned the set of Peacemaker Season 2 into a creative place where actors could take risks, do something new, and discover new sides to their roles. She also compliments director James Gunn, who promoted that freedom and usually retained unexpected takes in the final performance. It is that collaboration and trust that helped the season successfully transition between serious drama and dark humor without any hassle, and you can tell that they had a good time creating it.
Harcourt’s arc in Peacemaker Season 2 and the show’s future
The fact that everyone had a lot of fun on set does not purely qualify as a behind-the-scenes tale, but it actually contributed to the journey of Emilia Harcourt and made the fans relate more to her.
The emotional moments in Peacemaker Season 2 were believable and seemed justified due to the warmth and openness of Jennifer Holland, who made her tough and serious character appear softer. The connection between her and Chris, the emotional moments at the end, and even the dramatic conclusion felt all the more powerful because the cast had been working in an atmosphere where they could afford to touch such deeper emotions.
Jennifer Holland also told Collider, in a light and frank manner, that this, perhaps, could be her last performance as Harcourt. She went on to explain how she thinks the story could go, even though she's not sure how the next season would answer all the questions that fans have after watching the Peacemaker Season 2 finale.
“It was a little bit bittersweet for me because it felt a little bit like saying goodbye to everyone in some ways, even though we’re starting this new chapter. I don’t know what the future holds for Peacemaker. That’s the problem. Peacemaker is now stuck in this dimension. I don’t know how James will handle it, but I certainly think that the likelihood, in my mind, is that she has no idea that Chris has been taken. She thinks that he just left again, and she may just close off again. That’s what I see happening, and that’s just so incredibly sad to me, if that’s the case….How is this all going to be answered within the DCU? I don’t know. But it’s hard for me to make the jump to think that it’s going to be answered in a Season 3 of Peacemaker. I’m just afraid that we’re never going to be together again in this iteration. I hope that’s not the case. I don’t know.”
That made the shooting of those fun and amiable moments a little sentimental too, since, in case this is the end for Holland on Peacemaker, then the happiness they shared on the set means even more to her.
