DC's favorite anti-hero vigilante, Chris Smith, has been returning every week through the new episodes of Peacemaker, with John Cena donning his red-and-blue suit.
It's the second season of this show that began over three years ago. In between those two seasons, James Gunn didn't forget Chris. He brought Cena back in this role in his first DCU film.
In Superman, Cena appeared as Peacemaker, speaking against the influx of metahumans on the planet, which also includes the Son of Krypton, played by the studio's newest Clark Kent, David Corenswet. While Cena and Corenswet's characters didn't see eye to eye in the film, Cena is all praise when it comes to his co-star.
In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Cena was asked about a photo featuring him as Chris (wearing the shirt of alternate-dimension Chris) standing next to Corenswet as Superman. It led to speculations about Corenswet's potential appearance in the show's new season. Before diving into those details, this is what Cena said about the young actor. Cena told the outlet:
"He's an absolute class act, and James couldn't have made a better choice. I'm so glad everything went well [with Superman], because he had earned that. I don't use the word “deserve.” He has absolutely earned whatever success and future opportunities he's been given. I really wanted to meet Superman and offer my help and services in any way. And David is Superman."
Peacemaker star John Cena believes that David Corenswet earned his role as Superman

The picture of John Cena and David Corenswet led to rumors about Superman's potential appearance in Peacemaker. So, the interviewer from the GQ Magazine asked Cena about their picture together and enquired whether the rumors were true. Cena didn't confirm or deny, but spoke about the time the picture was taken, and about his impression of DC's new hero.
Cena said,
"I can tell you the story behind David and I, and that photo where I'm dressed as Peacemaker, is I knew that they were finishing up filming Superman, and I desperately wanted to meet David. I wanted to meet the new Superman and just lend my services, like, "Hey, man, your life is about to change, and I've heard that you've been doing an incredible job."
He added,
"I want to thank you because if you suck, that means DC sucks, which means we got a bigger hole to dig out of. So thank you so much for giving this your all."
In the same conversation, Cena spoke about Peacemaker and Superman and their importance in the DC comics history. He briefly addressed how he approached his role as opposed to the responsibility of Corneswet approaching his. He said,
"Peacemaker is a new guy, [or] an unknown character coming from the annals of wherever. James himself was like,"Don't read the comic. I'm going to make this guy my own." So, completely clean slate. But there are names in the superhero realm where you just can't fake it. They have a weight of importance before you even say your first word, and Superman is certainly one of those. So I really just want to meet Superman."
It still needs to be seen whether Corenswet appears in one of the show's following episodes. In the past, James Gunn had mentioned that the plot of Superman leads into the show's second season. More recently, he said that the events from this second season will tie into the follow-up project to Superman, dubbed Man of Tomorrow.
Based on these details, it seems likely that Kal-El might appear in the show, maybe to help his friends bring him back from the alternate dimension. Until then, fans have to wait and watch.
