When it comes to villains that Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders has held his own against, the list is quite impressive. More so, it is the ruthless manner with which Tommy deals with the people who cross him or anybody he cares about. There's only one person who can hurt Thomas Shelby, and that is Thomas Shelby himself.

Organized crime has always managed to hold its own against other television genres, and such is the case for Peaky Blinders. After an impressive six-series long run, the Shelby family's organized crime syndicate was brought to a close. However, fans were overjoyed to find out that Cillian Murphy would be reprising his role as Thomas Shelby, but this time in a film titled The Immortal Man instead of a series. Thomas Shelby in this film could go up against some characters inspired by real-life gangsters. Here's what we know.

Thomas Shelby might have to face these real-life gangsters in Peaky Blinders

Even though Peaky Blinders has never exactly been about real historical figures who have been adapted into the characters on the show, it has drawn inspiration from the underworld scenario in the United Kingdom to deliver a realistic and authentic portrayal. It is this authenticity that might end up with Thomas having to face characters based on real-life gangsters.

One of the most famous criminal organizations that took over London during this time period was the Kray organization. This crime organization was a mob family (much like the Shelby family) headed by the Kray brothers, who were boxers turned into criminals. Ronald and Reginald Kray were twins who were known for ruling over London with an iron fist.

The twins were extremely dangerous, and their rap sheet was made up of crimes such as arson, assault, and armed robberies, to name a few. Their names were also involved in a few high-profile murders. The Kray brothers could be a great source of inspiration for the Peaky Blinders if such an opportunity arises for the upcoming movie.

Additionally, Peaky Blinders has another link connecting them to the Kray brothers. One of the most enigmatic characters on the show was Alfie Solomon, played by Tom Hardy. Alfie started out against Tommy; however, they ultimately end up aligning with each other and go on to have one of the most interesting friendships on the show. Alfie gave up his criminal enterprises after a point in time on the show, but he'd still show up for Tommy when he needed an ear or any advice.

Tom Hardy, who played Alfie, has previously played the dual role of the Kray brothers in the 2015 film titled Legend. Although the film had its shortcomings, Hardy played the role excellently.

Even though this is purely based on speculations, it could be extremely interesting to witness characters based on the Kray brothers, and whether they would end up on Shelby's side or against him.
