Disney+'s fantasy adventure series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has added actor Holt McCallany in its third season as the larger-than-life Titan Atlas, who will serve as the primary antagonist in the upcoming season. The adventure series, based on Rick Riordan's eponymous series of books, premiered its second season on Disney+ on December 10.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 will adapt Riordan's third book in the series, The Titan's Curse, which will follow Atlas leading his army to Kronos in a war of vengeance against the gods.

In addition to Holt McCallany, the fantasy series has also added David Costabile in a recurring role and Jesse L. Martin as a guest star. The three new cast additions will join the recently added actors Levi Chrisopulos & Olive Abercrombie as Hades' children, Nico & Bianca di Angelo, respectively, Dafne Keen as Artemis and Saara Chaudry as Zoë Nightshade in Season 3.

All new cast additions will join the main ensemble cast in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, namely Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth and Aryan Simhadri as Grover.

Holt McCallany is all set to play Titan Atlas in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3

American actor Holt McCallany is best known for portraying Bill Tench in Netflix's psychological crime thriller series Mindhunter. His other television credits include Detective John Hagen in CSI: Miami, Detective Joe Diaco in Golden Boy, Lieutenant Brannigan in 61st Street and Neil Bishop in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3. Recently, McCallany also appeared in the starring role of Harlan Buckley in Kevin Williamson's crime drama The Waterfront, which was canceled after one season.

Holt McCallany will portray Titan Atlas in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, a well-known figure in Greek mythology condemned by Zeus to hold up the heavens for eternity after the Titanomachy, the last ten-year war fought between the Titans and the Olympians in ancient Thessaly. Atlas is often depicted as a figure with his celestial burden, holding a big sphere on his shoulders, in pop culture.

As the third season will adapt Riordan's The Titan's Curse, it will follow Titan Atlas after he is relieved of his burden. Atlas will serve as a primary antagonist in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, who will not only wage a war against the gods but will also kidnap Artemis and Annabeth, setting the stage for his intense confrontation with Percy. According to a report by Deadline, Holt McCallany's Atlas will appear in six episodes of the third season.

Additionally, Season 3 has also added David Costabile (Suits, Breaking Bad) in the recurring character of Dr. Thorn, a stern military academy headmaster and Jesse L. Martin (The Irrational, Law & Order) in the guest role of Frederick Chase, Annabeth's mortal father, who shares a complicated relationship with her.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is currently releasing episodes on Disney+ every Wednesday. The sophomore season adapted Book 2, titled The Sea of Monsters, which follows Percy as he ventures into the Sea of Monsters to retrieve the Golden Fleece.
