Episode 8 begins with Charlie dreaming of becoming a thriller novel author. However, Sylvia thinks it's not a smart choice for someone who's in their 40s. Naturally, she was worried about Charlie and his sudden wishes.
On the other hand, Sylvia landed a client as an event organizer. However, things didn't turn out as she had hoped. Her client, Mason Grand, never appreciated her for her efforts. When Sylvia realized that Grand liked craft beer, she made a last attempt to impress him. She told him about Lucky Penny and that Will, its founder, was her best friend. Instead of praising Sylvia, Grand appreciated Will.
Sylvia decided to host Mason Grand's party at Lucky Penny to impress her first client. When Sylvia came to know that Mason Grand was a misogynist, she informed Will about it and asked him to maintain a distance from him. Will didn't listen to Sylvia; he felt that she was jealous of his bond. Additionally, Will wanted to pitch in for his dream bar to Mason. But when Mason repeatedly made misogynistic comments and laughed at his plan, Will realised that Sylvia was right.
Meanwhile, things were quite messy between Charlie and Sylvia as well. When Charlie asked Sylvia for feedback on his novel, she bribed her son to read it and summarize it for her. Unbeknownst to her, Charlie saw her bribing her son.

Platonic Season 2 Episode 9 will follow the aftermath of the previous episode, especially dealing with Sylvia's guilt and Will's failing dreams. As per the synopsis, Sylvia will take Will and Katie for a boating adventure on the river. All this is done to avoid a confrontation with Charlie, who knows that Sylvia bribed her son for reading and summarizing the manuscript because she found it boring.
