Pluribus: From Alien invasion to Carol’s dark past, here are 5 wildest fan theories about the Apple TV show

The third episode of Pluribus is here, and it revealed a bit more about the hive mind. It's not simply the happiness that people connected to it want to spread. It's also their belief that everyone is drowning and they have saved them. Except for Carol and the others immune to them.

But this is just one of the things about this story that has turned out to be an instant hit. It's spreading like the virus spread in the show, and fans are coming out with some theories of their own that are worth pondering.

So, we looked into some of those and pulled five of them that we think you people of free will would like. We just want to make you happy (smiles at you, that might freak you out, but know that we didn't want to).

Humans are test subjects to aliens in Pluribus

Whoever is behind this virus, which was initially a recipe from space, clearly is an alien, and a Redditor thinks that they are likely perfecting the virus. The user writes

"The hive mind doesn’t just want to spread the virus. It has to. It’s built into their biology. But I don’t think it’s just about expanding numbers. I think it’s about improving the strain itself, build an antenna, and broadcast the "new and improved" formula to the universe."

Maybe they've destroyed more planets before, which is sad to think about.

There are no original thoughts now

If we simply think about the hive mind in Pluribus, then one user on X (formerly Twitter) believes that there are no original thoughts left that might solve new problems that are to come. According to the user,

"It’ll be interesting to see how the system breaks down because there are no original thoughts to solve new problems that will come. How the guy who is gaming the system to become a powerful oligarch tries to prevent Carol from taking the system down."

It is kind of similar to artificial intelligence. It has been fed the data, and all it can do is just figure it out using what was fed to it.

Alien invasion might not be on the cards

While the transmission, which was a recipe to create the virus, came from space, it is unlikely that we are going to see any aliens coming to earth in Pluribus. The reason is interesting if we look at this fan theory.

"The aliens (who I'm guessing are a Hive Mind themselves) won't know that the Hive Mind has taken over Earth for another 600 years, assuming that they're only in the star system that the signal was broadcast from. And if they did want to travel to Earth after finding out about the 'Joining', they won't arrive for at least 1200 years, and likely significantly longer than that."

However, the source of the transmission will eventually be revealed, hopefully by the end of this season. Or maybe in another season of Pluribus, if there is any planned at all.

Carol might be hiding some dark secret (which the hive mind knows already)

The hive mind hasn't figured things out about how to make Carol one of them in Pluribus. However, it knows a great deal about her and Helen, her partner who died during the 'Joining.' Keeping this in mind, we found a theory about this on Reddit. A user there writes,

"I predict that a flashback will shockingly reveal a horrific unmoral act that Carol committed with, or to, Hellen."

If you see this entire theory about Carol, the user has put an emphasis on how Carol reacts in Pluribus when anything related to her partner is mentioned by the hive mind.

Repopulating the earth

The hive mind has already taken over the people of the earth in Pluribus, but there's still a solution to get rid of it and repopulate the earth. This Redditor has an idea about this. The user thinks

"If she ramps up the bullying she can kill all the hives and her and the other 12 people can start to repopulate."

Carol certainly is capable of that. But she does have a heart, too. And then the others aren't really against the hive mind. Though Carol has found one in episode three. So let's see how it goes.

If you have any theories about Pluribus, we would like to hear about them in the comments.
