Rhea Seehorn has reunited with Vince Gilligan for the upcoming Apple TV+ series Pluribus. The two last worked together on Better Call Saul, where Seehorn played Kim Wexler opposite Bob Odenkirk. In Pluribus, she takes on the role of Carol, a woman portrayed as deeply unhappy and tasked with preventing happiness from spreading across the world.
According to Variety, Seehorn said walking on the set for the first time was an emotional moment. She saw exterior sets still under construction and was invited to leave her mark by writing her name in a concrete slab under one of the key sets.
“I was just running around crying, high-fiving construction people,” she said.
The series has been described as leaning toward psychological science fiction. It is not set in space and does not feature aliens. Instead, Gilligan, a fan of The Twilight Zone, uses the show to present commentary on life differently. A teaser unveiled on July 26 depicts a woman in pink scrubs licking donuts before placing them back into a box marked “Help yourself” with a smiley face.
The show will premiere on November 7, 2025, with two episodes. The first season has nine episodes and will conclude on December 26, 2025. Apple TV+ has already renewed it for a second season.
Reuniting after Better Call Saul

Seehorn and Gilligan first worked together on Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad. The series earned Seehorn two Emmy nominations. She recalled that Gilligan approached her with the title Pluribus, telling her it came from the Latin phrase
“E pluribus unum,” meaning “Out of many, one.”
She said she knew Gilligan had been considering different titles but had not told her what they were until then. The reunion marks a continued creative partnership. According to Variety, Seehorn was careful to avoid spoilers when discussing her role and the storyline. She described the tone of the series as
“definitely more toward the psychological sci-fi” but clarified that it is grounded and not a space drama.
Inside the world of Pluribus
The teaser trailer released by Apple TV+ offers a glimpse of the unusual premise. It shows a woman in pink scrubs interacting with a box of donuts in a way that hints at strange or unsettling behavior. No further plot details have been disclosed.
The series features Karolina Wydra from Sneaky Pete and Carlos-Manuel Vesga from Donde Tú Quieras. Appearing as guest stars are Miriam Shor from American Fiction and Samba Schutte from Our Flag Means Death.

Gilligan’s approach appears to involve using speculative elements to examine everyday life. Seehorn suggested there is a thematic focus on how viewers see the world, saying Gilligan’s style makes audiences look at life
“through a different lens because of something that is not the way it is right now.”
A series for discussion
According to Variety, Seehorn described Pluribus as,
“a thinking piece...It is meant to make you want to discuss afterwards, but it’s also hilarious.”
She indicated the series blends entertainment with ideas that invite reflection and conversation.
The nine-episode first season will be released weekly after its November 7 premiere. With a confirmed second season, Gilligan and Seehorn’s collaboration is set to continue beyond the initial storyline.
