Peacock's crime comedy drama series Poker Face Season 2 saw an explosive ending, which featured a shocking reveal for Charlie and a new life for her on the road for the next season.
After Beatrix's son Kirby Hasp is killed and Alex is framed as the murderer, Charlie struggles to clear her friend's name. However, Luca has her own theories and believes that the murder was orchestrated by the Iguana, the mysterious assassin, whose identity is unknown to the world.
He also believes that the Iguana targeted Kirby Hasp because of his connection to Beatrix Hasp, who is due to testify against the mob in two weeks. Luca also believes that Alex was framed as the patsy because of her connection with Charlie, who is the only person who can lead the Iguana to Beatrix.
In the Poker Face Season 2 finale, as Luca warns Charlie about the Iguana and the many forms they can take, she goes on a hunt for the killer with Alex.
Here is the Poker Face Season 2 ending explained.
Poker Face Season 2 ending explained: Charlie discovers the shocking identity of the Iguana
As Charlie and Alex enter Greenvile and spot Beatrix's house, the former instructs Alex to honk in case of danger and decides to enter the house alone. Upon entering, she hears the horn, but when she comes out to check on Alex, she is nowhere to be found.
As Charlie steps back into the house, she realises that the Iguana has killed the secret agents guarding Beatrix and moments later, she finds Beatrix's dead body on the couch.
In the Poker Face Season 2 finale, just as Charlie uncovered Beatrix's body, Alex called out for help, with an unseen figure holding a gun to her head. However, Charlie realised that the Iguana is none other than Alex, who was betraying her from the beginning to get close to Beatrix.
Just as Charlie realises that Luca was right about the Iguana, Alex reveals that she betrayed Charlie, not just to murder Beatrix, but for the thrill of lying to the human lie detector.
Poker Face Season 2 ending explained: How did Alex manage to fool Charlie?
While the Iguana could have taken any form, it was surprising that Alex managed to fool the human lie detector. She explains the backstory on why she took up Beatrix's murder gig. As a seasoned assassin who had trained for multiple years, nothing was challenging enough for the Iguana, who had stopped killing people out of boredom.
However, when she discovered Beatrix Hasp's murder gig and how the only way to reach her was through Charlie, the human lie detector, the Iguana took this as a challenge. It took superhuman effort for Alex to control her body reactions, dilated pupils and sweat glands. But she managed to lie to Charlie, which instantly gave her a thrill and she became obsessed with outsmarting Charlie.
In the Poker Face Season 2 finale, after christening herself as the Moriarty to Charlie's Sherlock Holmes, the Iguana took Charlie on a dangerous car ride, which she drove off the Canyon Cliff. While Charlie managed to get out of the car before it hit the bottom and exploded, Alex did not make it out alive.
However, when the police investigated the debris, they found no dead body, suggesting the Iguana is still at large and obsessed with Charlie. On the other hand, while Charlie escaped the Iguana, she was now under the police's scrutiny for Beatrix's murder.
Luca helped Charlie escape the police in the Poker Face Season 2's final minutes, setting up a new life on the road for our protagonist in Season 3, from the police and the Iguana.
