Peacock has unveiled the official first look at Ponies, its upcoming spy thriller series, which will surely become your next obsession. The eight-part espionage drama stars Haley Lu Richardson (The White Lotus) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) in the lead roles and will premiere on January 15, 2026.

Ponies: Here's the first look at Peacock's upcoming espionage thriller series

Peacock has released a featurette and three first-look photos for their upcoming series. The photos introduce Clarke, Richardson and supporting cast member Adrian Lester in their respective characters in 1977 Moscow.
Ponies follow Bea (Clarke) and Twila (Richardson), two women who work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. They form an unlikely spy duo when both of their husbands are mysteriously killed in the USSR. This personal tragedy forces Bea and Twila to become secret CIA operatives and uncover a Cold War conspiracy and the suspicious events behind their respective husbands' deaths.
One of the pictures shows Clarke's Bea sitting at a typical office desk as a secretary, before her life unravels and takes a shocking turn for the worse. Another picture features Bea and Twila outside a lavish building, likely investigating their husbands' deaths from a mysterious and unidentified woman with a colorful scarf on her head. Lastly, the final picture features Twila and Lester's Dane, likely confronting harrowing truths about the ongoing mystery.
Rounding up the Ponies' cast are Artjom Gilz as Andrei, Vic Michaelis as Cheryl, Nicholas Podany as Ray and Petro Ninovskyi as Sasha.
Haley Lu Richardson and Emilia Clarke break down their characters
For a layman, Ponies stand for Persons Of No Interest. In addition to the first-look photos, Peacock has also released an official behind-the-scenes featurette video with lead stars Haley Lu Richardson and Emilia Clarke.
Clarke explains their characters as:
"We play two wives of CIA operatives that are stationed in Moscow, but what then ends up happening is we uncover a can of worms that results in us being very good spies.''
Explaining her character, Bea, she adds:
"When you first meet Bea, she went to Wellesley [College], she studied Russian, she married her childhood sweetheart. She's on the path to be perfect wife, perfect mother, perfect woman.''
Breaking down the opposite personality of her character, Twila, Haley Lu Richardson adds:
"Twila is loud, and a lot, and uninhibited. She is naturally like a very big, bold, fearless human being."
While Bea and Twila are very different from one another, they get entangled in a spy operation after facing a similar personal tragedy. Ponies will likely explore Bea and Twila's budding friendship as they embark on a dangerous mission.
The series will premiere on Peacock on January 15.
