Ponies is an upcoming Peacock spy thriller set in 1977, about two secretaries working in the American Embassy, who become CIA after their husbands are killed in the USSR. As they investigate what or who killed their husbands, we'll get to understand these two women individually, outside of their CIA identities. Besides, the show will also explore their grief, and help us see both sides of losing a spouse to a situation you had no control over.

Ponies will premiere on Peacock on January 15, 2026, and will star Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson in leading roles. All episodes of the show will be released on Peacock and will be available for streaming on the platform.

Ponies will be released on Peacock on January 15, 2026, and will consist of eight episodes in total. If you want to watch the show when it is released, you need to have a subscription to Peacock. The synopsis of the show, according to NBC, is,

Set in Moscow in 1977, two “PONIES” ("persons of no interest" in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy — until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR. The pair then become CIA operatives. Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. And Twila (Haley Lu Richardson) is a small-town girl who is abrasive and fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows.

Ponies stars Emilia Clarke as Bea, Haley Lu Richardson as Twila, Adrian Lester as Dane, Artjom Gilz as Andrei, Nicholas Podany as Ray, Petro Ninovskyi as Sasha, Vic Michaelis as Cheryl, and Maxim Gall as Trent. Speaking about her character Bea, Clarke said in a Peacock featurette,

"When you first meet Bea, she went to Wellesley [College], she studied Russian, she married her childhood sweetheart. She's on the path to be perfect wife, perfect mother, perfect woman."

Adding about Twils and Bea as a team, Clark said,

"Everything that Bea isn't, Twila is. And everything that Twila isn't, Bea is. Twila drinks wine, Bea gets uptight. Twila's loud and colorful, Bea is more demure."

Richardson on the other hand, described her character as,

"Twila is loud, and a lot, and uninhibited. She is naturally like a very big, bold, fearless human being."

The show is created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, who also serve as executive producers. Iserson also serves as the showrunner, and Fogel has directed the show. Other executive producers of the show are Emilia Clarke, Mike Daniels, and Jessica Rhoades. The production companies behind the show are All The Time All, David Iserson Enterprises, Pacesetter Productions, and Universal Television.

Ponies premieres on Peacock on January 15, 2026.
