After three seasons, the fantasy series The Wheel of Time has been cancelled by Prime Video, leaving many fans heartbroken. The show, which launched on Prime Video in 2021, had built a strong and growing audience. Based on the bestselling books by Robert Jordan, the series followed Moiraine Damodred, a powerful Aes Sedai, as she guided a group of young villagers.

She believed that one of them could be the Dragon Reborn, destined to either save or destroy the world. The cancellation was upsetting news to viewers. Recently, Rosamund Pike, who played Moiraine, shared her reaction to the show's cancellation on Instagram, which further gave courage to the fans trying to save the show.

Rosamund Pike’s reaction to The Wheel of Time cancellation

The Wheel of Time quickly became a successful fantasy show, thanks to its layered story, complex characters, and strong performances. It premiered in November 2021, followed by a second season in September 2023, and a third in March 2025. Despite the positive reception of the third season, Amazon cancelled the show in May 2025.

Season three ended on an interesting note, leaving much to explore in future seasons, if it were renewed. Mat had a terrifying encounter with an Eelfinn, Elaida cunningly manages to take the Amyrlin Seat at the White Tower, and Moiraine defeats Moiraine. However, much of the story is left, and it's too bad we won't get any more seasons of The Wheel of Time unless the show gets picked up by another streamer.

Winter is Coming shared a screenshot on X of Rosamund Pike's story on Instagram, where she addressed the show's end. In the story, she posted an image of herself in full Amyrlin Seat costume from the Rhuidean scene and wrote:

"Maybe I felt the end was coming and wanted to channel in anguish and rage at the sky."

This brief message seemed like the reflection of what many fans are feeling. Her words weren’t just about her character, but about a show she starred in and produced. Her words unapologetically expressed her anger at the show getting cancelled, and how she might have sensed this outcome before it happened.

Pike not only starred in and produced the show but also lent her voice to the official audiobooks. The Wheel of Time was thus more than just a show for her, which is evident in her words.

Save Wheel of Time, a petition started to make other streamers pick up the show, was started soon after the show was cancelled. After Pike's comment, now at present time, the petition now has over 180,000 signatures. While there is no real proof of signature numbers going up solely because of Pike's words, her words have given fans more reasons to stand up for the show they love.

It’s clear that The Wheel of Time was more than just another TV series; it was a shared journey between cast, crew, and fans. The outpouring of love and determination from viewers shows just how much this story mattered.

While no network has stepped in yet, the signatures on the Save Wheel of Time petition are growing in number. The show’s fate may still be unknown, but there is hope.

The Wheel of Time is streaming on Prime Video.
