Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent Season 2 has added Emmy-winning star Matthew Rhys to its cast. The second season of this anthology legal series will be based on Jo Murray's upcoming thriller novel, Dissection of a Murder.
After the series received positive reviews from audiences, including four acting nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, creators David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams opted to make Presumed Innocent into an anthology series.
Matthew Rhys, best known for his Emmy-winning performance in The Americans, will join the previously announced lead cast members Rachel Brosnahan and Jack Reynor in Presumed Innocent Season 2.
Presumed Innocent Season 1, which premiered in June 2024, was based on Scott Turow's eponymous best-selling novel. The 1987 novel was also adapted into a 1990 feature film starring Harrison Ford and Brian Dennehy. The first season of the series starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga in the lead roles and followed a prosecutor who becomes a prime suspect in the murder of his colleague/lover.
The anthology series became the most-watched thriller on Apple TV, following which, it was renewed for Season 2.

More about Presumed Innocent Season 2
As mentioned earlier, Presumed Innocent Season 2 will be based on Murray's upcoming legal thriller book, which is scheduled for a May 2026 release. While Apple TV+ is keeping the plot details for Season 2 under wraps for now, the tagline for Dissection of a Murder reads as:
A dead judge. A silent defendant. And a courtroom full of liars.
The story follows Leila Reynolds, an attorney defendant who is shocked to discover that her first case is about the murder of a high-profile and well-respected judge. While Leila feels that she is not ready to lead this type of dangerous case, the defendant, Jack Millman, maintains that he only wants her to lead his case. However, Jack stays silent, creating a major obstacle for Leila as she strives to prove herself in a case that seems impossible to win.
In Presumed Innocent Season 2, actress Rachel Brosnahan will play the character of Leila.
