Prison Break to leave Netflix: Here’s how you can stream the hit crime drama now

If you're a Prison Break fan who loves the rush of adrenaline, last-minute twists, and Michael Scofield’s mind-bending plans, then you might want to open your Netflix app—soon. The beloved crime thriller is set to leave Netflix in most countries next month. Yes, again.

The show made a return to international Netflix libraries in September 2024, much to the delight of fans who missed the classic FOX drama. But just like before, it was only back for a limited time. Due to licensing agreements with Disney (which now owns the rights to many old FOX titles), the show is scheduled to exit Netflix globally on September 4, 2025. That means your last day to stream it is September 3.

If you're in the U.S., you’ve got a little more breathing room—Prison Break will stay on the platform until January 29, 2026. But for everyone else, it's time to binge, rewatch, or finally see what the hype is about before the series pulls another disappearing act.

Where to watch it after it leaves Netflix?

The good news? The show isn’t vanishing into thin air. Once it leaves Netflix, the series will still be available to stream on Disney+ in most international regions. So if you have a Disney+ subscription, you’re in luck—Michael, Lincoln, and the gang aren’t going far.

Disney+ has gradually become the go-to platform for many older FOX shows, including Lost, 24, and now this series. If you're already paying for the service, this is the best and most stable place to catch every episode without worrying about vanishing titles.

A new chapter: The Prison Break reboot is in the works

But that’s not all. They are also coming back in a new form. Hulu has officially ordered a pilot episode for a reboot of the series, written by Elgin James. While this new version won’t bring back the original cast, it will take place in the same world—with new characters, new prisons, and, we assume, new breakouts.

Among others, Emily Browning, Georgie Flores, Lukas Gage, and Clayton Cardenas make up the reboot cast. Development is in progress, but there is no official release date yet. Fans are optimistic that the reboot will provide a new perspective while retaining the original show's captivating essence.
