In the last episode, Jasper Tempest (Ben Miller) was pulled into a new case with a murder that relates to a high-profile case. In the process, his tense relationship with DS Dan Winters took center stage, becoming so strained that it was implied that more conflict was to come.

Aunt Zelda also brought Jasper into new parts of her life, with the expectation that Aunt Zelda's storylines would overlap more significantly with Jasper's growth this season.

What to watch for in this episode

Episode 2, September Gardens, drops the case into Jasper's lap at a retirement community, where murder disrupts residents and employees. Aunt Zelda gets her turn again, introducing Jasper to meet her new love, Peter, and including him in the case.

Jasper and Dan's bitterness does not end, though, and they are put in the uncomfortable spot of a joint therapy session with Dr. Goldberg. In their own house once more, the Dean is still seething over Zelda's romantic life, creating more drama around Jasper's sphere.
